We had the good fortune of connecting with Diane Pereira and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diane, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Sometimes it isn’t a risk to do what you love. I love doing many things and have many hobbies that I use as my own therapy, and writing and painting is one of them.

Risk is associated with choice making, and when you make something with your mind and hands, because you love it, that is not making a choice: that is simply a version of a certain self care.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I use typewriters to write my poems and stories. I have 4 vintage typewriters that I’ve cleaned, repaired, oiled and loved. I have one Russian electric typewriter from the 70’s that is for the longer stories and easier on my fingers.

I am not where I want to be yet, but I am where I am supposed to be.

I want the new world to know that ANALOG is still real and thriving and every bit as fantastical.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take anyone I love visiting me to local mom and pop coffee places, local everything. I would show them some amazing vintage places and slowly take them on the analog path. I would take them to witchy stores and record shops. I would show them the greatness that is creativeness.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to credit anyone whom has shared my stories or artwork. Anyone whom hearts or likes them, whether strangers or friends. Anyone whom hates me for simply creating. Those whom don’t even know that my work exists, but one day will read something I’ve written or see something I’ve painted and stopped for a nano-second, these are them.
