We had the good fortune of connecting with Craig Lawson Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Craig, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
I’ve read a ton of books but my favorite book that I’ve read would definitely be The Four Agreements. I recommend that book to everyone! It had a huge impact on me when I first started cooking around 19yrs old. It taught me to be true to my word and be openminded with everything I do and my words really have power so whatever I was saying i want i was getting it was crazy(law of attraction)

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a private chef born in New Orleans La, started my cooking career in Baton Rouge since me and my family moved out there from New Orleans after Katrina. Growing up i was always around food because everyone in my family knows hows to cook its wild. In 12th grade is when i really got into cooking, it all started when me and my friends were going eat out all the times trying new things and i just slowly started cooking at home more and more and soon as i graduated high school i realized i wanted to pursue a career with food and stuck with it and graduated culinary school from BRCC! The road to where im at was not easy at all, the most difficult part or challenge i would say is finding clientele and maintaining and having that great clientele base that comes back thats when your work(food) have to speak for itself! My presentations and flavors is what sets me apart. I come with well flavor food no matter what cuisine i cook. The biggest lesson i learned as a private chef is have an open mind and always try new things! That one thing you try can change something on your menu that can change your life you never know

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Im still fairly new to dallas moved oct 2020 but for lunch i would for sure take them to Yardbird or Pangea the food there never disappoints! Im a craftbeer guy so we would definitely go to Turning Point Beer for some beers haha! Go somewhere in Deep Ellum on Sunday for a good time. For sure bring them to Hutchins for BBQ the brisket there is insaneeee plus you get to choose your sides and AYCE dessert! Wish i knew more but thats definitely my spots that i like since ive been in dallas!

Everyone thats been around me pushing me to do and want more and of course my supporters! Their the reason I’m here and I’ve gotten this far in life and with my career
