We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaiah Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isaiah, how do you think about risk?
The best things in life are on the other side of fear or whatever Will Smith said. I naturally gravitate towards a challenge even when I am not looking for it. This has changed my perspective in life and in my career when it comes to the many challenges one may face. When taking a risk, I approach each challenge with an understanding that I am trying to take it from a challenge to a window of opportunity and from there to a success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
By day I am a commercial real estate broker. In the late evening I become CEO of The Pickle Plug. I like to think what sets me apart from others is my unique approach to what I do. I handle each client with care and concern and make myself available before they need me. I graduated from the University of North Texas in the heart of the pandemic last summer. After leaving UNT I stayed diligent in my career pursuit via thousands of zoom calls and the right opportunity actually found me by the way of a recruiter contacting me via LinkedIn. After rounds of interviews I packed up and moved to Houston to start my new endeavor. Even though it sounds easy, the key to getting to this point was trial and error in undergrad with winning and losing internship opportunities and getting a sense of confidence about myself in the corporate America realm. As it pertains to my side business in The Pickle Plug, I have been blessed. My team really supports my vision so much so that they manage all of the operations in Dallas while I am living in Houston. It requires a lot of constant communication and can have miscues ever now and then but even with me not being physically present around a business I founded, we have developed a strategy that works best for us.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am Dallas through and through and if I had a friend visiting the area I would take them to a few Dallas staples that I think their taste buds would enjoy. These places are: Lolo’s Chicken & Waffles for breakfast, Rudy’s Chicken for lunch, and Nick & Sam’s Steakhouse for dinner. Honorable mention goes to Cake Bar for dessert. I would also take my friend to the Dallas arboretum to take in everything the botanical garden has to offer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my mother Kimberly and two sisters Eboni & De’onna for being in constant support of me and my ambitious plans. They are my support system and without them I would not be who I am today.
