We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Archibald and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal for my business is to be able to have my own studio that I can rent out to others if they need it and be able to work from home full time to spend more time making memories with my loved ones for years to come! I love doing photography and for helping others keep memory keepsakes to share with their loved ones that it only feels right if I can do it full time. I aim to help people share the memories of their loved ones for even when they have passed on, their love is still around to share with others as they share the memories with the younger generation and others for many years to come.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have changed art styles as I developed my skills since I first started. Before, my style was all over the place, from vignette to dark and grainy to even light and airy, but overtime I have found out my main art style is light and airy. Nothing is every truly easy, but photography is my spark, my passion, and it doesn’t seem right when I’m not taking photos of anything and everyone out there in the world from pets to even people. Even when times are slower, I’ll go out into the world and take street and landscape photos just to keep up my skills and to just have a fun moment while things get busier again. I have learned that sometimes that dream photo doesn’t always happen by itself, but you have to keep working towards your dream in order to make it a reality, no matter how hard and stressful things will get.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My top favorite places to visit in DFW, is the Recycled Book Store in Denton Square along with all the shops there. Each shop has something fun and unique going on with so much history of the town! Like for example, Recycled Books used to be an opera house before converting it into the book store. There is so much to see and do in Denton Square. You could shop for antiques (or for me most of the time props) at the two (yes TWO) antique malls they have in Denton Square, eat fun candy at Atomic Candy or even ice cream at Beth Marie’s. There is even haunted ghost tours that will take you to most every shop and even the courthouse where there is a grave on site.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The owner of McNeely Photography is such an amazing person that even as a mom of 3, she still thrives on making sure you have an amazing photo experience with to die for photos to match! She makes each session as special as can be and will always listen to your thoughts and goals of your session before, during and even after your session to ensure you have the best quality of photos as possible.
