We had the good fortune of connecting with Kasim Kabbara and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kasim, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Just Hits, No Misses” a lyric by my favorite musician to ever live Drake has been the quote/affirmation I been preaching to myself when it comes to being an artist. Each day as I grow in my creative and storytelling abilities I want to out perform what I’ve done the previous day. The quote “Just Hits, No Misses” means so much to me because with my work, I want every piece of art I do to be a “hit”. The best compliment to me is when 5 different people come up to me or DM me and give me 5 different responses about how 5 different photoshoots I did were their favorite or 5 different articles/blogs I wrote they love and learn from or 5 different projects I contributed to or the most impactful to them. In my eyes that means I’m doing something right and using my abilities the right way, art is subjective and its not supposed to have the same impact on everybody but if its great quality each can have a unique impact to be someone favorite and above all change their life for the better. It’s tough when I have this mentality and did a fire photoshoot on Wednesday and know I have one coming up on friday that I have to beat but thats the beauty in it. To become successful you have to have confidence in your craft and in order to build the confidence needed, you have to stretch your limits. Setting the bar high and aiming high gives great results which become “hits”.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My life as a creative started when I was a kid. Growing up as when it comes to technology and learning I was advance but the one area I severely lacked was speaking due to me only beginning to speak when I was three almost turning four. Because of that, from that age until I got to 7th grade I would have to go to a speech therapist. We worked on oral muscle strengthening exercises, how to properly articulate sounds and tools to become an effective communicator. Once I improved I actually enjoyed the sessions. I would constantly have to read books and newspapers out loud and I would love when I got to my favorite two sections, Entertainment and Sports! This experience is the reason, I’m the multi-faceted creative and story teller I am today. As I was learning to communicate orally effectively, I found other ways to do it. In highschool as apart of the Lincoln High School Radio/TV program I would write short stories and I learned how to properly use film cameras and video edit. It wasn’t until college I actually owned a camera. I wanted to grow as a creative so I took a huge risk and created a loan to but my first Canon DSLR my sophomore year , the best purchase I’ve made till this day. I end up starting a photography and video editing business, ‘IceVisuals’ because of it and have had the opportunities to have for artists such as Jidenna, H.E.R and Blueface in front of that same Canon I bought my sophomore year of college. As I continued to grow my business my communication and talking skills was getting noticed which caused me to host several On-Campus UT events and even some in the Austin area. This lead to me becoming an Intern for Power106 where I got to go on-air each day with my own 2 minute sports segment. Once that opportunity ended I created the 1-800 podcast as an Entertainment and Sports podcast that I would do the grow my brand. Now as I’m almost approaching my one year anniversary of graduating college, I want to continue being a vessel and grow in my abilities while encouraging and help foster others to becoming their best selfs. I am an artist with expertise in photography, hosting, creative directing, writing and want my story to be the motivation for others to keep fighting.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So I LOVE to eat. I’m now transitioning to becoming a pescatarian full time as I’ve been since 2021 started. Incase I decide to give that up this will be my ideal day. So the first place I’m taking someone is Harris House of Heroes for those immaculate Honey Ranch wings. Since we are in the Uptown/Victory Park area, we will go to the Perot Museum and enjoy ourself to the beautiful exhibits they have there. Once we leave hopefully the sun is down so I can show the person to my secret spot that to me highlights why Dallas have the best skyline in the world. Once that ends we will go to Oak Cliff and finish the night at Sweet Georgia Browns and get some of the best soul foul i ever had in my life.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to shoutout God first, without him I don’t know where I would be. Next I have to shoutout my beautiful mother and sister. my Dallas Lincoln and UT Family and the city of Dallas for all playing major pieces in my life for me becoming the God-Fearing man I am today.
