We had the good fortune of connecting with Maggie Barton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maggie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I run on risk! Big moves and big change require a big risk tolerance. There is a big difference between a calculated risk and throwing everything you know to the wind, though. So when I am making a risky decision, I first think about if I am grounded enough to make it. To be someone that makes risk work, you have to stay centered and know that your intuition is your most valuable resource. If you can harness it and take risks, you’ll be successful. That’s the game of life!

What should our readers know about your business?
CuffedUp is an accessory that styles sleeves and keeps them rolled. What sets us apart is that we have zero competition and are the first company to roll out a product like this (pun intended!). It has not been easy. Trying to introduce something that has never been done before is always a struggle, because people don’t have a frame of reference or ‘box’ to put you in. Being patient and trusting the process has been challenging and having the right support group around you is the best piece of advice I could give. I used to be the type of person who would choose to go at something alone, rather than brining others alone with me. Once I realized I operated that way out of fear of letting others down, I’ve been able to accept the help of others and it has made my life so much easier!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Game night at my house is where it’s at. If we are going out, I would walk up to Origin Kitchen, they have the best gluten free menu in Dallas! I’m a home body, so I prefer going for walks, painting, and shopping in Highland Park Village.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to Abi Ferrin, who has taught me how to love who I am at my core so that I can share that love to others.
