We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Towles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When COVID first hit, we heard about how Senior Living Homes and Nursing Homes weren’t accepting visitors anymore. We felt we had to do something for the elderly, who would be feeling secluded and lonely, while not being able to see their loved ones. At the time, we had llamas and horses. We saw a video of llamas in windows visiting people and that’s when the light bulb went off. We called around to a few local nursing homes and found one that would let us bring our llamas to their windows for the residents to see. It was super rewarding to see everyone’s faces light up! Like others when COVID first hit, we had some additional time on our hands as life slowed down for a bit. That is when started to adopt some animals as we had the land and time for it. My husband and I are huge animal lovers. We started with a donkey, then a bunny, then they just kept coming. That is when it all started falling into place, we realized we had something. The world needed some light, joy and positivity. Animals are therapeutic and they can bring a smile to nearly anyone’s face. That is when we decided to start a company that offered unique interactions with animals, that would bring joy during such a dark time. We felt the world needed a little animal therapy through Llamazing Party Animals. The rest has been history, that is ever evolving but one of the most rewarding decisions we have made. The animals not only bring us so much joy everyday, they bring joy to countless other people as well. We get to spread a little light on this world everyday!

What should our readers know about your business?
Llamazing is special because it’s all about the experience, it not your average petting zoo. We offer a unique experience where others get to play with our animals, take pictures and spread the joy to others. You can have a llama or mini horse show up to someone’s door for their birthday, a cheer me up or special achievement. Or you can have a petting zoo in your backyard with an alpaca, mini donkey, goats, a mini pig, and bunnies! Or you can even come to our beautiful wooded property just South of Dallas, to have a private experience with the animals, followed by a picnic and/or some horseback riding! What makes us extra unique is we love to dress the animals up to match your special occasion! Starting a business during a pandemic came with many doubts and fears. We feared that it wouldn’t work during a pandemic due to the lack of gathers. The first few weeks and months started off slow but then we pivoted what we offered and how to we advertised to make it more COVID friendly. Everything has been about learning, pivoting and growing. You don’t need to know all the answers to get going, you learn from having enough heart to try and when you fail to try again.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have been in Dallas for 10 years now and I just love it! When hosting others in Dallas, I love to take them to Bishop Arts. Brunch would be at Paradiso as you can’t beat the ambiance there. Then we would hit up Revelers Hall for some live music and drinks. Followed by some shopping along Main St. I also love to go to local breweries and festivals so that a must! Some of my favorite breweries are Intrinsic, Brain Dead and OHB. Oh, you can’t forget Truck Yard! I always make sure to bring my guests there on a nice day with the dogs.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Byron, is my biggest supporter and cheerleader! He believes in every crazy idea I have and helps me achieve every dream I dream up. Without him, life wouldn’t be anything like it is now. I also have to thank the social media influencers, who have helps me spread the word of Llamazing! Influencers like My Curly Adventures, Dallasites and Curvy Girl on the Run! Without their help, we wouldn’t have seen the explosion of growth like we did. It’s been so amazing to meet some many talented fellow entrepreneurs along the way.
