We had the good fortune of connecting with Bronwyn Osburn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bronwyn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I am a South African immigrant to the United States, moved here at a young age as I married a man from here. No one ever taught me growing up about concepts of How Money Works. I for sure didn’t get to learn it once I was in my marriage as I was not suppose to know what went on with our money except being in charge of buying groceries off of a list that was made for me, taking care of our two children and staying home. Well this impacted me a lot when I decided I deserved more! More for my children, more for myself worth and MORE FINANCIALLY! I soon realized I had no idea where to go for money advise…. google didn’t help as there were all kinds of opinions, banks only wanted me to get credit cards and it just seamed like a never ending black tunnel… until I ran into the financial services industry and blessed to have found WealthWave. Where not only was I taught the simple concepts the wealthy use to protect and grow their money, I was able to help others with this education piece as well! This got me extremely excited and opened up a way for me to take my dream of wanting to help other females be educated in self worth, health and now financial education. This opened up doors for me to be that someone for other women to look at and know, feel and trust that there is somewhere and someone to turn to for these parts in their lives and they are not alone, this is how my business was formed.

What should our readers know about your business?
As a female agency owner in the financial industry with WealthWave, a Transamerica company. Bryan my fiancé and myself have developed a cutting-edge platform that teaches people from all walks of life the financial concepts needed to accomplish their financial goals. Fundamentally, we teach people how money works. We help individuals make the leap form employee to entrepreneurship, specifically in the financial industry. We help individuals and families how to track their expenses, how to set up a business, lowering taxes, and give strategies for saving money in retirement accounts that meets each individuals goals. We also educate on long-term care, disability, life and health insurance needs. We at WealthWave serve a need for families. Most of us were not taught about money growing up. I don’t charge to help individuals and families. I educate, and don’t sell! We are proud to represent over 300 companies when it comes to insurance and investments, as we believe not one size fits all and it’s about an individual plan for what best fits each clients goals and needs. We like to call ourselves the FootLocker of the financial industry where you know you can come in and have options and not be pushed into one product of service. We offer the market place! Getting married at a young age, not going to college and staying home raising my children did not make it an easy transition into starting my own business or financially being savvy personally. It was a long road of lessons learned, studying, receiving coaching and gaining experience that has brought me where I am today. I am not saying it is easy and smooth sailing now as a business is hard to keep working and run on a day to day basis but I am passionate about what we do and the need to educate others and helping individuals and their families makes it all worth it! I love sitting down with individuals! My favorite part of the process is when they realize they aren’t the only ones who don’t know where to put their money and what to do with it. There is a significant portion of the world that is in the same situation. Financial illiteracy is the largest economic issue in the world, affecting over five billion people. There is hope at the end of the tunnel and we enjoy educating on what money options there are. In addition to helping clients with their personal financial plan, we coach and train those who want to get their financial license and join the WealthWave crusade themselves. The licensed agent count in our industry is shrinking and we need more agents to help us expand. We are the fastest growing and number one in the industry for minorities and females. We mentor, train and license new representatives from all and any backgrounds to begin a career part-time or full-time in the finance industry.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many fun places to see and experience here in North Dallas, that is exactly why I choose to live here and experience life her with my family and friends. I would be sure to take my best friend shopping at all the small stores downtown McKinney as she will get to experience a small business and friendly vibe. We would grab some late lunch at Harvest as they have amazing fresh local grown food options on their menu to enjoy. We would then head over to Legacy West as I would for sure want her to grab some great drinks with me at HayWire, their Front Porch Swing drink and old Fashioned is to die for. We would grab brunch and shop at a little place called FleaStyle at The Star in Frisco. It is the cutest place! I would take her to tour the Star and cowboys facility and of course take all the fun pictures together to post on social media! We would make a trip to Fort Worth Stockyards for her to experience the cowboy country vibes, shop the fun stores, drink some beers while strolling the strip before we headed into the rodeo to watch the fun show of bull riding, horse lasso and little kids catching sheep. We would tour downtown Dallas and all the history it has to offer and of course bar hop in Deep Ellum. Another little secret place I would not want to miss taking her to is Rarebooks bar Speakeasy in Frisco as they have great live music and a fun energy. There are so many more things to see and do but those are just a few of my favs!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate this piece to my children for helping me hustle and become the strong woman I am today to be sure I created a life I wanted them to be proud of and enjoy. A major shout out to my fiancé Bryan Linder who has pushed me to believe and become all that I knew inside I could be, for lifting me up in the lows and loving me through the craziness of finding myself from my prior journey of divorce, being a single mom, no self worth and not sure where I was going.. no matter what he would be right behind me telling me I could do it and reminding me of my goals and dreams.
