Meet Annamarie Jamison | Owner & Founder Abundant Flower Farm

We had the good fortune of connecting with Annamarie Jamison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Annamarie, what principle do you value most?
Believing that I was created on purpose and for purpose has provided me with a solid foundation for making decisions in my life both personally and professionally. It was a truth spoken very clearly to me growing up – one that I will always be so grateful to my parents for speaking into me so faithfully.Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My husband and I own and operate a small flower farm that we farm organically. We currently have a self serve farm stand that will be open to the public periodically March through the first week of December every year. We have so many plans for our farm, some that have come to fruition and some that are still being thought through, planned, and put on hold for things to come – but the thing that gets us the most excited is being a place that can bring the community in. Flowers always have a way of sharing joy, but flowers also have a way of bringing people together and that is what we hope our farm can do for the communities around us! We are excited about having our first of many annual events in the upcoming 2021 growing season!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well sticking true to supporting small business ownership – I would definitely take them out for a little locally owned fun! We love a good strong espresso so I would start one of the days by heading down to Filtered Coffee in Downtown Mckinney. We also love pie and the best happens to be found in the heart of Melissa, Tx – Cross My Heart Pies. Texas has some fun hidden outdoor gems that we do often with our kids so they would be included in our adventures – Cross Timber trails for a hike and/or hunting for shark teeth in a little creek in Sherman, TX.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband and I were newly married, just one year, when we moved to McKinney, TX from Washington State for his job. My Aunt lives just “down the road” in Southlake, TX where she owned her floral business from her home for over 20 years. She called me up one day excited to have found a vacated shop and asked if I could help her out for a few weeks to open a public storefront until she got settled in and staffed! It didn’t take long to realize I was not just fascinated with the way she artistically displayed her flower arrangements, but I was fascinated with the flowers themselves! Over the years of working for her I spent hours processing boxes of flowers shipped from all over the world. I would consider the farmers, the seed, the care, and all the steps in between that resulted in the flowers set in front of me in that moment. So while it is all the Lord’s orchestrating that we are in the flower farming business today – my special shoutout is for my Aunt (Darla Denton of Devin Designs in Grapevine) who brought me into the floral industry, taught me, encouraged and supported me into this opportunity to not only do something I love, but to be able to provide for my family while doing it! And I also have to give a special shout out to my husband Chris who works tirelessly on the farm to make it what it is. There is not one part of this endeavor that could be done without not only his effort but his vision for our life and our family.
