We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrienne Marshall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adrienne, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was on a completely different career path when I started taking Pure Barre. I had grown up dancing and missed it so much. When I saw the sign for a Pure Barre I knew I had to try it. I became obsessed with the technique and fell in love with the community of amazing women. After becoming an instructor, I was still looking for ways to add more Pure Barre to my life. At that point I realized I wanted to be a studio owner. I was lucky enough to come from a family of entrepreneurs, and I always wanted to own a business. When Pure Barre came into my life it was the perfect fit. Having the backing of a franchise as a first time business owner was invaluable and made the decision to become an owner easy. I am grateful to our corporate team for always supporting me.Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Pure Barre is a high intensity, low impact workout. This year, Pure Barre as a brand is celebrating its 20th anniversary while my studio, Pure Barre Richardson, will celebrate five years this fall. The Pure Barre brand has passed the test of time because it is effective. It works to tone and strengthen your body while lengthening your muscles, all at the same time. It’s not an easy class, but it’s scalable to fit each individual client’s fitness level. My studio prides itself on being like personal training in a small group setting. We give each and every client as much personal attention as possible. Every one of my clients has my phone number and knows they can contact me should they need anything. I think our personal approach really sets us apart from other big box and boutique fitness gyms. Pure Barre really is a family.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have so many recommendations, and I love shouting out other local small businesses. My all-time favorites are LaCasita Bakery, The Wine Authority, My Med Spa Plano, Shady’s Burgers Richardson, Beyond the Door, and Communion Neighborhood Cooperative.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family played a huge role in me feeling capable and ready to take on owning a business. Both my mom, dad, and grandparents started businesses and worked to find success in each of their endeavors. Growing up I was made aware of the challenges of being a business owner, but also of the joy that comes from the responsibility of working every day for your dream. It might sound cheesy, but I really believe in the American Dream. When I joined up with Pure Barre to become an owner, I was certainly in over my head — I think all business owners are at times —   but the Corporate Pure Barre Sales Team jumped in to show me a path to success. Owning my own business in this community has been a great blessing.
