We had the good fortune of connecting with Shamineke Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shamineke, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my business/career has taught me was to go hard after your goals and dreams. It may get challenging, it may get tough and sometimes you feel as though you want to give up but don’t! You’ll never get to that success that you’re striving for, if you give up. I consider myself a strong woman and I was raised around women (my mom and sister) who didn’t give up even when times got tough, they still kept pushing and striving towards their goals. It’s very important to have a plan, in place when you start a business. Some people just jump out there head first without a written plan and that leaves room for a lot of mistakes. I made sure that when I started my business to do research first because I wanted to know what all came with running a business. I wanted to make sure I gathered up all the documents that I needed to run a legit and successful business and what direction I wanted my business to go in. I did research for about 3 months before I actually launched my business, with my written business plan to help guide me. And of course, being a Christian woman I pray and ask God for guidance and to lead me on a path that’s in his will. I pray and ask God to help me to come up with ideas and ways to promote my business better and to lead me to people that I can network with who are going to be positive influences and we can help each other grow. Another important lesson my business/career has taught me is to always be kind and show love to people because so many people are ready and willing to support you but some people fail to provide great customer service and they lose great customers. I haven’t had that problem because I always make sure to treat my customers with respect and I treat them how I would like to be treated. I dislike bad customer service so I don’t provide my customers with bad customer service. I try to go above and beyond to make sure my customers are satisfied. I know you can’t please everyone but I will certainly try my best. I want all my customers to know that they are important to me and without them, my business wouldn’t be here so I’m truly thankful and grateful for them.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I work a full time job as an accounting clerk for Dallas County Juvenile Department and the CEO of a beauty and cosmetics business.. I always stress the importance of building great relationships with people because you never know when you’ll need those people. I’ve worked my way up at my full time job by building relationships with people who could help me advance. You definitely don’t have to suck up to move up, all it takes it you letting your positive light shine and treating people with respect. I’ve even built a great relationship with my current boss, hoping and praying that he promotes my position that I’m currently in lol but he always tells me that he speaks highly of me, it’s great to hear those words from your boss, that’s how you know you’re doing right and that really motivates me. As for my business, I use the same tools that I learn from my full time to job, in my business. To work hard, treat people with respect, build great relationships, let my positive light shine etc. that’s what separates me from other businesses. It brings me much joy to get positive feedback from my customers because my main goal is to satisfy them. I didn’t just start a business for the money, I believed that I had the ability to be a great leader and that I could be a positive influence in the business world. I knew that I could bring something different to the business world and hopefully help be an positive inspiration to others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well because I don’t do much hanging out,  if my best friend was visiting the area, we would most definitely go eat because that’s one of my favorite things to do of course. Sometimes I like to eat expensive and sometimes I like to eat cheap, that all depends lol we would probably do a little shopping, maybe visit a museum, go bowling, you know things like that. Most important, I’d have them helping me with my business as well

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my mother for raising such a strong woman. I want to thank my sister for being my inspiration and motivation. I want to thank my friends for always supporting and encouraging me. I want to thank my customers for supporting and trusting me. All of these people are have played a major part in my life and I’m so thankful and grateful to have them in my life.
