We had the good fortune of connecting with Karissa Collins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karissa, what matters most to you?
When I started my businesses, my goal was to bless people with more affordable options. Having a big family, I understand wanting to get photos but not being able to afford it. And as a mom, I understand wanting to look stylish but not wanting to feel like your finances are all spent on you. So the thing I value most is bringing other families and other moms a better option. I want to be a blessing through what I do so I have a mission and passion that will push me through the tough times of business.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started a photography business a few years ago. I started it because people admired my photos of my children and started to ask me to take theirs. From their I took photography classes and started to grow my knowledge. After years of practice and growing my skills, my business has flourished. Last year I started an online boutique. I had no idea what I was doing, but I had a vision. In started to research online. It was hard to get all the things necessary to legally run a business online but day by day I learned more and more. It took a while to find the style and wholesalers I wanted to work with but it all fell into place. The first year was hard. I didn’t profit at all. It seemed like I was losing money but I kept at it. Today I still take my profit and reinvest back into the company and new inventory but I’m confident it will grow and profit in time. I am so passionate about simply blessing others. I want to give them the best at the lowest possible price. That’s my goal. I’m currently pregnant with my ninth child and so there are challenges to being so busy and if it’s worth it. But I’m confident my businesses bless many and they’ll be great to pass on to my children. I’ve learned to take it one day at a time. To just trust God and do what I can do. I’ve learned to not stress too much about mistakes made or money lost and to simply learn and do better. I love what I do and I’m thankful everyday that I can grow two businesses that benefit others all over the US.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I always tell people to visit the Stockyards. It’s so Fort Worth. Also being a photographer I know about a lot of pretty places in the area. I always refer them to eagle mountain park and trails. It’s perfect for photos or a gorgeous walk with the family.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out to God. He directed me every step in starting my two businesses. He grew my influence. He brings me business. I literally leave advertising and clientele up to him. I also want to shout out to my supporters on social media and friends and family. I have so much support online and in person and I know it’s why I am successful today.
