Meet Whitney Allen | Mental Health Professional, Birth and Postpartum Doula & Healer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Whitney, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. My background is what I call, colorful. I have always had a free upbringing which impacted exactly who I am today. My Dad was not around but my Mother made sure I knew my way around and through this journey of life. Being surrounding around so many different personalities (my siblings) insipired me to learn more about human behaviors and healing the human body.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So I have my hand in a little of everything. I am in grad school for Social Work and will be graduating in December. My goal with that is to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, so I can provide therapy for our community. I am also taking herbal classes as well as in training to be a yoga teacher. At last, I am a Birth and Post-Partum Doula for the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I have always been into a holistic lifestyle which is what influenced me to share my life and advice on natural living. When I created Shaka’s Naturals and Gaia’s Sacred Space, I wanted my businesses to be solely about transitioning into a natural lifestyle and reconnecting with the source. I offer healing jewelry, supplements, herbs, consultations, and more. It has not been an easy journey; I am very passionate about what I do and I tend to over analyze, especially when it has to do with helping others. I want to do nothing but empower, guide, and assist others so I strive for the very best, which can be overwhelming at times. So at the beginning, I wasn’t sure if I could do it. But with a lot of healing myself and outlining my purpose, I received the necessary drive to move forward. A big lesson I learned on the way is that integrity means a lot to me and it defines your work. What I do behind closed doors is where the magic is truly at. I am serious about living up to what I preach. What I want the world to know about me and my story/brand is that it is and I am pure. I am not doing this for money or fame, I genuinely care about others and want to help as much as I can.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
While my best friend is visiting the area I would take her Downtown, Fort Worth to Trinity Park where we would have a picnic and do some scenic viewing. I don’t have a specific food place I would take her, but we would walk down Magnolia or 7th street and find a place to eat that seems appealing. I would also take her hiking at Eagle Mountain Park.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I send my gratitude to the Most High, the Creator. With the guidance, love, and mercy given, I have perservered through many adversities and accomplished so much. To my beautiful children, thank you! They are the foundation of my businesses. My son Nai’eem Shaka is the reason I stepped out my comfort zone and pursued Shaka’s Naturals. And my baby girl, Gaia Alora, is the inspiration behind my Doula business. They are truly my everything! I also want to send my gratitude and appreciation to my Family (my bestfriends included); they have truly held me down and lifted me up. I have a strong army behind me.
