We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Taylor III and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eric, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My decision to start my own business was rooted in a desire for both financial freedom and long-term stability. I’ve always had a strong passion for helping others, but I also recognized that, on my own, my reach would be limited. By building a private practice, I saw an opportunity to expand that impact—creating a space where support could extend beyond just me. Through this work, I’m able to contribute not only directly to individuals, but also indirectly to families and communities, helping create meaningful and lasting change.

What should our readers know about your business?
My journey to owning my own practice was far from easy. In the beginning, I was working three different positions just to make ends meet, which left me mentally, physically, and emotionally drained. I also invested our savings into a program that I believed would help me grow quickly, but it ultimately set us back financially. It was a tough lesson, but it taught me that while investing in yourself is important, pacing and sustainability matter just as much. As the saying goes, ‘You can’t pour from an empty cup.’
One of my biggest challenges was finding my niche—especially within marketing, which can feel like a beast of its own. Over time, as I became more engaged in the community, I began to see real traction. That growth didn’t just come from strategy, but from service—showing up, participating in panels, and offering free resources at events. That’s when everything started to align.
What sets my practice apart is the heart behind it. I’ve built a space where people can come as they are—without pressure, without judgment—and truly feel seen and heard. I’m most proud of being able to serve not just individuals, but families and communities in a meaningful way.
If there’s one thing I want the world to know about my brand and my story, it’s that this was built through resilience, faith, and a genuine passion for helping others. It hasn’t been easy, but every challenge has shaped the purpose behind Taylor’s Touch of Clarity Mental Health Counseling—and that purpose is to create real, lasting impact

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since I’m still fairly new to the DFW area, I’d approach it the same way I’ve been experiencing it myself—exploring it through a family lens and finding places that are both fun and meaningful for all ages. If my best friend came into town with family, I’d plan a week that balances fun, relaxation, and quality time together.
We’d start with somewhere like Klyde Warren Park—it’s perfect for families with open space for kids to run around, food trucks, and a great atmosphere. From there, we’d check out the Dallas Zoo, which is always a hit for kids and gives you a full day of activity.
One day would definitely be dedicated to Fort Worth Stockyards so they can experience that classic Texas culture, including the cattle drive. It’s something unique that both kids and adults can enjoy.
For something more interactive and educational, I’d take them to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science—it’s hands-on, engaging, and keeps kids entertained while still being interesting for adults.
We’d also spend some time outdoors at White Rock Lake, whether that’s a picnic, a walk, or just letting the kids enjoy the scenery. And for a more relaxed day, exploring places like Legacy West gives you a mix of food, space to walk around, and a family-friendly environment.
To wrap up the week, I’d keep it simple with a nice brunch and maybe some local dessert spots—just slowing things down and enjoying time together. What I appreciate most about DFW so far is how family-friendly it is. There are so many options where you don’t have to choose between fun for adults or kids—you can genuinely have both.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a heartfelt shoutout to my wife. She stood by me through moments of personal doubt and external challenges that almost led me to postpone this journey indefinitely. Around the time I was beginning my business, I also experienced the loss of my mother, which was incredibly difficult and made me question whether it was the right time to move forward. On top of that, our oldest child was still under one year old, so we were navigating new parenthood while stepping into this new chapter.
Even in that season, my wife continued to pour into me with encouragement, love, and belief in my vision. Her support gave me the strength to keep going when it would have been easier to step back. Because of her, I was able to pursue my purpose and ultimately build Taylor’s Touch of Clarity Mental Health Counseling. This journey is just as much hers as it is mine.
