We had the good fortune of connecting with Kameer Dunnigan Yopp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kameer, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always been a creative at heart. From a young age, music was my first outlet — I’m trained to sing classical and opera, but I love everything about singing. Creativity has always been the way I process the world and connect with people, so pursuing a podcast felt like a natural extension of that. For me, it’s about more than just creating content — it’s about building a platform where stories, lessons, and real conversations can inspire and resonate with others. Stepping into podcasting gave me the chance to blend my passion for expression with my desire to impact people’s lives.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career has been a mix of creativity, strategy, and a lot of perseverance. I’ve spent nearly a decade in the telecom industry, working across operations, communications, business planning, organizational change, consumer sales, and DE&I program management. What sets me apart is that I’ve always blended business with heart — I know how to build strategy and structure, but I never lose sight of people and storytelling. That’s the same energy I pour into my podcast.

It definitely hasn’t been easy. Growing up without my dad present and having a complicated relationship with my mom taught me to carve my own path. I had to learn how to turn challenges into fuel and lean on creativity as both my outlet and my power. The same with singing and music.

What I’m most proud of is that I’ve stayed true to myself. I want the world to know that my story — and my brand — are built on resilience, authenticity, and creating spaces where others feel seen and heard.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit, I’d definitely make it a mix of food, culture, and good vibes. We’d kick things off with brunch at Del Frisco’s in Downtown Dallas — because nothing sets the tone like good bread, oysters, and good vibes. From there, we’d hit the Dallas Museum of Art to soak in some creativity. One evening, I’d take them to Deep Ellum for live music and street art — it’s the perfect spot to experience the heartbeat of Dallas.

Mid-week, we’d do a little escape to Katy Trail for some good exercise and people-watching, then maybe a day trip up to Addison for some food at Brentwood Restaurant. By the weekend, we’d wrap it up with dinner at Hutchins BBQ in Frisco for (in my opinion) some of the best BBQ around, record a episode for the Unpacking Within Podcast (we always have the best conversations!), and close things out cuddling watching Netflix.

Dallas-Fort Worth has such a mix of flavors and energy — you really can find something for every mood.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d have to dedicate my shoutout to my mom. Our relationship hasn’t always been perfect, but her lessons and voice still guide me every day. She gave me those “rules of the game” that I carry into how I move through life, and they’ve shaped the person I’m becoming. I’d also give credit to my husband — he’s been my biggest supporter and motivator, reminding me to keep pushing forward even when I second-guess myself. On top of that, my close circle of friends has always encouraged me to lean into my creativity instead of hiding it. Without that support system, I probably wouldn’t have had the courage to share my voice through podcasting.
