Meet Sir Charles Miles-Frost | Finance Professional, Entrepreneur & Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sir Charles Miles-Frost and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sir Charles, how do you think about risk?
I think about risk as a balance between a challenge and opportunity. Risk taking comes with a level of belief in yourself that everything will work out and while also being prepared for things to go wrong. Some of the most rewarding experiences in my life and career, including, starting and investing in my photography business, returning to school for my MBA and even pursuing new career moves at the expense of comfortability shaped my life in a way that staying complacent would have never done. I believe any major success story in my life came from a risk that felt uncomfortable in the moment but worth it in the long run. Risk has taught me adaptability, resilience, and the importance of betting on myself. I wholeheartedly believe that if you don’t take risks you’ll never be lucky enough to get everything that you wish for. Everything comes with a bit of sacrifice and uncomfortableness. I believe that’s when you know something could truly work in your favor. Nothing work having comes easy and nor does it come without risk.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work journey has been shaped by two worlds that might seem very different at first but allow me see things in a different light. Those being Finance and Photography. I. attended Texas A&M University-Commerce where I got my bachelors in Finance and MBA. On one hand, my background in the finance and accounting has trained me to be strategic, detail-oriented, and results focused. On the other, photography allows me to tap in to my creative side to express and appeal to emotion and storytelling. My photography Get SIRtified has done well over 300+ shoots to date. I believe balancing the two is what sets me apart as I am able to see things from 2 lenses, One of structure and the other of artistry.
I am most proud about overcoming the challenges of building a company while also pursuing a professional career in a totally separate field. I started my photography company Get SIRtified, my senior year of college at Texas A&M University-Commerce during the height of covid in 2020 with no true plan just a risk and since then there have been a lot of ups and downs. In 2021,I started my first full time job while being a full time graduate student and running my business at the same time. We’ve had some good years and some bad but we are still functioning which I think speaks on resilience. There were times where it felt like balancing both wasn’t possible But those challenges taught me resilience, the importance of time management, and that pursuing more than one passion shouldn’t be seen as a limitation but as a strength.
Professionally, I got to where I am by taking risks and betting on myself. I said yes to projects and opportunities before I felt fully ready, and I learned to grow into them. I didn’t start my first job till about 8 months post graduation. This not only allowed me to put more effort into figuring out my business but allowed me to figure out what I really wanted to do. Consistency was always my goal. There was a quote that has stuck with me that stated “success is the consequence of consistently applying basic fundamentals.” This stuck because it shows success isn’t some random fairytale. Everyone and anyone can be successful just by putting the necessary work in. A lesson I learned is to never losses fester. Losses shouldn’t be seen as something bad but more so as a lesson so that you never make the same mistake twice. Every day you get a new 24 hrs to do something different than the day before. Yesterday might have been rainy but tomorrow could yield sunshine and rainbows. Another thing I learned is that success does not have to be 1 dimensional. You can be technical and creative, introverted and out going and more. Never put yourself in a box.
What I want the world to know about my story and brand is that anything worth having doesn’t come easy. Anytime life gets hard I think about Michael Jordan’s quote about “missing 9000 shots in his career, losing 300 games and missing 26 game winning shots and that’s why I succeed” You truly don’t fail in anything in this world until you throw in the towel and quit. This story was not easy no matter how things look to the public eye or social media. I want the world to know that I was my genuine self every step of the way. My work is a reflection of that and my goal is to inspire others to have the courage to accomplish anything they want in this life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit me in Dallas–Fort Worth for a week, I’d want them to get the full taste of the city, culture, food, nightlife, and little places many people don’t talk about. We’d start in Deep Ellum with BBQ at Terry Blacks, get daiquiris at Southern classic and wander through the streets gazing at art and exploring the many shops and music before grabbing rooftop drinks. Another day, I would take them on a tour around Dallas to see a few of the major landmarks Reunion Tower, Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, Klyde Warren Park and walk around the city. Another day, I’d take them to the Arts District to see the Dallas Museum of Arts and Nasher Sculpture center, with dinner in the Bishop Arts District and ending the night at Lady Love for a chill R&B night with drinks. Another day, will be spent in Fort Worth visiting downtown for lunch. Going to a whisky tour at TX whiskey, before the exploring the Stockyards and ending with dinner on the patio at Joe T. Garcia’s. I love outdoors so I’d make sure we got some sun as well, maybe biking at White Rock Lake or Katy Trail, and later that night winding down at a speakeasy like Midnight Rambler or Bourbon and Banter. Later in the week if it is in season I would take them to the Texas State fair to experience all the different foods and activities. Toward the end of the week, we’d slow things down with a day in Grapevine for wineries and meow wolf then wrap it all up with a drink at waterproof rooftop while we watch the sunset over downtown. And if we have time I would take them to Grand Prairie for a little competitive fun at Andrettis.
There are so many museums, activities, art parks, trails and more that make DFW area so vast and creative.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First things first I would like to shoutout my mother because without her and my siblings, I wouldn’t have been able to embark on this journey, reap the fruits of my labor or accomplish anything that I have set forth to do. Whether it was through her mentorship, words advice, guidance, or overwhelming support she was always there. Second, I want to shout out all my brothers whether its my fraternity brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha or those whom ive known since I was a kid, for doing the same and always encouraging the best out of me. Lastly, I want to shoutout all my close friends for all the talks, support, laughs and more. I really appreciate those moments as they kept me grounded through all the madness.
