We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelaiah Conway and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelaiah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process for wanting to become a content creator was I share anyways, so I might as well put more effort into it to reach more people! Obviously when I’m able to grow my platform to a bigger level there will be financial benefits and don’t get me wrong, that will be awesome! But what I really love is being able to encourage others and show them what they’re capable of by seeing me do it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being a Stay at home Mom definitely is not easy but I love being able to be whatever my kids need. I think what sets me apart from others moms is that I see myself as more than my kids parent. Motherhood is extremely rewarding but it can be consuming and easy to forget who you are. I think I have a good balance of being a mom and also being Kelaiah! I’m an artist, I love to be silly, I enjoy spontaneous trips and I like to explore. I’ve found that Motherhood doesn’t cancel out those things for me and I love encouraging other women to be free to explore all the sides of who they are!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m fairly new to the DFW area but have fallen in love with Downtown McKinney! It’s about 35min from Dallas and has some of the cutest shops and restaurants. Collective Coffee is a must before strolling around or even to stay a bit and get some work done. I’ve made it my office a few times and have also taken the kids there to chill and create just to get out of the house. LAST Art Gallery is a co-op gallery that has some beautiful works of art from a variety of artist. I enjoy walking thru and being inspired, you can also get some smaller art pieces as gifts or souvenirs! My favorite places to shop are Tyler Kingston Mercantile, Birds & Words home boutique and Antique Company Mall. Tyler Kingston has the cutest clothes and accessories for both men and women. I think it’s very Texas, but in a good way! Birds & Words just feels so cozy and makes me want to buy everything in there to decorate my home and I’ve always been a sucker for a good antique shop. A restaurant that recently opened that’s defiantly worth a try is Union Bear. The vibes inside are so cool with all the earth tones and natural light. They don’t have a huge menu but everything I’ve tried has been delicious!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The confidence and positive outlook on life that I have is definitely God given but my Mom has always been an example to me of not only confidence in herself but seeing it another’s and encouraging them to be great. My husband has also been my biggest supporter in very thing that I do. He’s truly my best friend and makes me want to continue to better myself all the time.
