Hi demarkuss, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business came from a mix of frustration and inspiration. I saw gaps in the smart home industry—things weren’t streamlined, service was inconsistent, and the tech wasn’t always user-friendly for homeowners. I knew I could do it better. I wanted to create something that combined innovation with trust, and offered real value to people, not just products. I started with the mindset of solving a problem, and that grew into a passion for building systems that make life easier and more connected.

From Door-to-Door to Digital Innovation: The Cognito Media Services Story**

My journey hasn’t been easy — but it’s been worth every step. I started Cognito Media Services because I saw a need: people wanted smart home tech, but didn’t know where to start or who to trust. I wanted to be that solution. I didn’t come from a tech empire; I built this from scratch, door to door, house by house, client by client.

What sets me apart is that I lead with service, not just sales. I truly care about the experience people have with technology in their homes. My brand is built on trust, innovation, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in smart living. Unlike other companies in this space, we’ve developed our own comprehensive app available in both the Apple Store and Google Play Store. This service app features integrated AI technology, appointment booking capabilities, and equipment purchasing options — creating a complete ecosystem that extends our personalized service into the digital realm.

I’ve had to overcome challenges — from learning the tech to building a team, staying motivated, and staying true to my mission. But every challenge taught me patience, strategy, and resilience.

I want the world to know that Cognito isn’t just a company — it’s a movement to simplify lives through smart solutions. We’re just getting started.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting Dallas, we’d start with brunch at Bread Winners Café in Uptown — chill vibes and solid food.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my family, especially my mom Michelle Day , for always believing in me even when things got tough. Big love to my team at Cognito Media Services — none of this would be possible without your hustle and heart. I also want to shout out all the entrepreneurs in Dallas grinding every day, and a special thank you to every client who trusted us with their home. You’re the reason we keep pushing boundaries.
