We had the good fortune of connecting with Libby Hanrahan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Libby, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
This has been a dream of mine since high school and speaking honestly was something I always saw as happening much later in my life. But as I graduated High school I prayed about the next step in my life and that next step didn’t include a traditional 4 year college. Instead I took classes to further advance my knowledge of sewing, and the fashion business model. Now I find myself consistently thinking about what I want my brand to be about and how I can have a positive impact on the fashion industry and my consumers.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am now working on releasing my fashion brand, Made New. I make each piece of clothing in house and I only use thrifted materials, this is how I came up with the name for my brand, because just like how I turn old garments into something new Jesus does the same with us, and that will always play a part in what I do. I specialize in upcycling pre-loved garments, and I love receiving custom orders from my clients. Made New aspires to eliminate the waste that fast fashion brands contribute to, and doing our part to help our consumers build a lasting wardrobe they will love forever.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One thing I love about Dallas is there is so much to do you have an endless amount of options to choose from. I am constantly finding new areas and places. I’m a big shopper so I would probably spend the day grabbing an iced tea and then hitting the thrift store, window shopping and you can never go wrong with Tex-Mex.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe all my success in life to Jesus! without my faith I know I would not be the person I am today let alone in the position that I am in. He has blessed me with the best family that supports my every step and parents who have supported me and lifted me up in all of my decisions.
