We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Alise and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, is there something you believe many others might not?
I’ve been noticing a trend lately—more and more people talking about silence like it’s the highest form of healing. —Like if you’re not quiet, withdrawn, and unbothered, then you must not be healed. And while I understand the power of silence—how sacred and necessary is and can be—I also see how it’s being glorified in a way that feels out of balance. Some of this silence isn’t peace. It’s pain with a spiritual filter on it. Some of what people are calling peace Is just fear wrapped in fake wisdom. It’s avoidance dressed up as enlightenment. And that’s not healing—that’s hiding.

We have to be careful about how we speak to the collective, especially when we have influence. Because the truth is, not everyone needs to be quiet. Some of us need to scream. To cry. To tell our story out loud. To process out loud. There’s so much “woke” language floating around that completely bypasses the human part of healing. And that can be dangerous. That’s how people end up thinking they’re doing something wrong just for feeling. That’s how generational silence gets passed down and normalized. That’s how cycles of harm continue behind closed lips.

Yes, silence is sacred. But so is your voice. So is your rage. So is your grief. So is your truth. There’s a time to go inward and be still. And there’s a time to speak, to feel, to be fully human and fully present with what’s real. Healing is both. It’s quiet and loud. It’s messy and sacred. It’s not about looking spiritually evolved—it’s about being honest, being embodied, and being free.

Let’s stop glamorizing silence in ways that cause more harm than good. Let’s make space for the full spectrum of healing. Because we don’t need another generation taught to stay quiet. We need a generation that knows how to feel it all and still stand in truth.

Some people have been silent their whole lives. Silenced by trauma, systems, family patterns, or spiritual teachings that said “don’t speak,” “don’t feel,” or “don’t disrupt.” For them, voice is the medicine. Movement is the breakthrough. Speaking is the exhale their body has been waiting for.

Silence is a tool, not a destination. It’s one way the soul processes. But healing—true healing—requires a full spectrum of expression. It calls on movement, voice, weeping, witnessing, shaking, screaming, dancing, resting, remembering, creating. Silence may begin the process, but it doesn’t always carry it through.

The collective body holds centuries of swallowed truth. To say silence alone is the answer would be to ignore the cries of those who’ve been buried under it.

Silence is not the only sacred thing. Speaking is sacred. Feeling is sacred. Being witnessed is sacred. Letting your body tremble with truth is sacred. And if we are to truly heal—not just spiritually perform healing—we must make room for the many faces it wears.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My brand wasn’t built from strategy — it was born from survival, surrender, and Spirit.
It began with one question: How do I heal? And that question led me to build a life — and now a mission — that helps others ask and answer the same for themselves.

I’m the founder of Sitting With Spirit, a sacred haven where pain finds purpose and adversity is alchemized into love. I hold sacred and intentional spaces for inner transformation, holding space for others to dive into the parts of themselves they’ve been afraid to face — not to fix them, but to remind them they’re not broken. Through Spirit-led introspection and authentic dialogue, we honor each journey and the light that still lives beneath it all. I hold space for what most avoid: the grief, the rage, the shame, the silence — and the joy, the love, and the light that never left.

I do this work not only as a holistic Practioner, but also as a community advocate, educator, and a trained birth and death doula. These roles are all part of how I support individuals and families through life’s most sacred transitions — from beginning to end — with compassion, presence, and intention.

What sets me apart is the depth of presence I bring.
This isn’t just a service; it’s soul work. I hold space for people to sit with the uncomfortable, the unknown, and the transformational — because I had to do it for myself first.

I survived childhood abuse, foster care, SA, and DV. I walked through trauma after trauma and made a vow: I would not become a reflection of my pain. I was raised in systems that never truly saw me — so I chose to see myself. To study myself. To understand how I work, why I react the way I do, and how to rebuild my life with what I had.

My business began as a Facebook page — a digital journal and resource hub where I shared reflections, tools, and stories for anyone navigating pain, healing, or transformation. I wanted people to know they weren’t alone. I offered guidance on how to hold space for others, how to support survivors, and how to come home to yourself after trauma. Over time, it became a sanctuary where people felt safe enough to share their own truths — a space where our stories were honored and our pain no longer had to be hidden.

That’s when I realized: this wasn’t just my healing.
This was — and is — a collective need.

And so, what is now Sitting With Spirit was born.
More than an offering, it’s a movement rooted in sacred witnessing — a space where people don’t just listen to others, but learn to listen to themselves, to Spirit, and to their own inner voice again.

What I’m most proud of is how authentic this work is. I didn’t learn this from a textbook (though I am trained now). I learned it by living it. I had to sit in the silence. I had to free myself from dependency on medication and the systems that taught me to numb instead of feel. I had to face everything I once avoided and trust God when He told me: You can do this differently.

This journey hasn’t been easy — it’s been raw, humbling, and deeply revealing.

Along the way, I’ve learned to surrender.
To accept the journey.
To remember what’s in my power.
To observe my life instead of living as a victim to it.
To trust what God said about me.
To let the energy of love move through me.

And that’s what I want the world to know:
You are not what happened to you.
Your pain is not your identity — it’s your initiation.
There is light on the other side, and you don’t have to walk toward it alone.

Sitting With Spirit is a reminder that we can return to ourselves. That we can build healing spaces where truth is honored, stories are sacred, and every soul is seen.

Because when one of us heals, we all remember.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit, we’d start by catching a sunset at Marion Sansom Park — one of my favorite things to do. From there, everything would be rooted in presence, pleasure, and exploration. I’m relatively new to DFW, so I’m still discovering the city myself. I don’t usually go to the same place twice — I love trying new food spots that feel good, taste amazing, and have beautiful energy. I’m a nature girl through and through, so we’d definitely spend time outside, grounding ourselves, having meaningful conversations, and just seeing where the moment leads us. I’m all about spontaneity and letting the day reveal its own magic. So really, the whole experience would be about adventure, alignment, and leaning into joy — together.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to begin by thanking God, The Most High, for guiding me through every season of my life.

To my family—thank you. To all those who came before me—I honor you. Whether by blood or spirit, your presence shaped my path.

To everyone who has ever acted as protection, guidance, or a resource throughout my life—thank you for being part of the unfolding.

To those who have sat with me in ceremony, held space for my healing, or allowed me to witness yours—I see you, and I’m deeply grateful. —You’ve helped me grow in ways words can’t always express.

And to those who have truly witnessed me—thank you. To be seen and heard is a sacred gift, and I carry that energy with reverence.
