We had the good fortune of connecting with Denedra Hutchinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Denedra, how do you think about risk?
Risk-taking has played a major role in shaping my career path. I started later than most, but choosing to pursue a career in the beauty industry has truly been life-changing. From meeting incredible people to learning from some of the best in the field, the journey has been nothing short of inspiring.

Taking a leap of faith, I left a stable job to follow my passion—and I haven’t looked back. It wasn’t an easy decision, but the love and support I’ve received since making that choice has been overwhelming.

Chasing your dreams often means stepping outside of your comfort zone. It’s scary to walk away from security, but growth rarely happens where you feel safe.

Take the risk. Trust the process. Success doesn’t come overnight, but with passion, consistency, and perseverance, it will come. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a hairstylist based in the DFW metroplex, originally from Ohio. Hair has always been a passion of mine, not just for the creativity it allows, but for the opportunity to pour into others. There’s something powerful about making people feel confident and cared for, and I feel truly grateful to do that through my work.

While this career is incredibly rewarding, it’s not without its challenges. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned early on is the value of being teachable. Growth in this industry comes from being open, learning constantly, and staying grounded in your purpose.

I’ve also come to understand that not everyone is your client, and that’s okay. You don’t have to do it all. Instead, focus on what you’re great at and build from there. That’s where your strength and your confidence will shine the most.

My mission is simple: to promote healthy hair care, to educate women on how to care for their hair, and to create a space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. Because hair care isn’t just about appearance, it’s a form of self-care, and it deserves intentionality.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the DFW area for a week, trust me we’d be making the most of every day! There’s so much to see, eat, and experience here, and I’d want to show them the perfect mix of culture, relaxation, fun, and, of course, some good eats.

Bishop Arts, as it’s one of my favorites. The Dallas Arboretum. Fort Worth Stockyards. I love a cute coffee shop along with a museum visit. We can’t forget to do a little shopping and relaxation. I love a good sound bath and yoga.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to take a moment to give a special shoutout to all of my amazing friends who have encouraged me over the years, not just to pursue my passion, but to keep going, even when things got tough. I’ve truly been blessed with a tribe that pours into me, lifts me up, and shows up for me both personally and professionally.

Your support has meant the world, and I’m so grateful to be surrounded by people who genuinely want to see me win.

A very special thank you to my son my biggest motivator. You push me daily, remind me of my strength, and constantly encourage me to be my own boss. Your belief in me fuels everything I do.

I wouldn’t be where I am without my tribe, and I’m so incredibly thankful for each of you. Here’s to continuing the journey together.
