We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Juarez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think risk has played a huge role in my journey—honestly, more good has come from taking risks than from playing it safe. Every major shift in my career happened because I stepped into the unknown. Like when I got laid off from my first marketing role—at the time, it felt like a low point. But if that hadn’t happened, I probably wouldn’t have gone all in on freelancing. That moment pushed me to bet on myself, and from there, things really started falling into place.
Another big example was my first solo trip. I had never traveled completely on my own before, and when plans changed midway through, I hit a wall. I had to decide—either call it off or keep going. I’m so glad I chose to move forward. That experience ended up being a turning point—it taught me a lot about myself and how I show up when things don’t go as planned.
Taking risks has opened up opportunities I never could’ve predicted. Whether it was trying a new creative approach, investing in gear when money was tight, or saying yes to a project I wasn’t totally sure I was ready for—it’s always been worth it. I’ve learned that staying too comfortable can actually hold you back. You grow the most when you’re unsure, a little nervous, but you move forward anyway.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is all about capturing real moments and telling stories in a way that feels authentic and emotionally resonant. I think what sets me apart is the way I approach each project—I treat every one like it’s a mix of personal and professional. I’m always thinking about the bigger picture, the message, and how I can bring a unique perspective to it, whether it’s a travel film, a promo, or a photo shoot.
What I’m most proud of is the journey itself. I didn’t get here overnight. It started with a Canon T3i and just filming everything around me with my friends. From there, it was a long road of saving up for gear, shooting anything I could, and just constantly learning. When I got my internship at Dyad Ventures, that opened my eyes to what was possible. I got to work on real projects, travel, and connect with people in the industry. But it wasn’t all smooth. When the agency dissolved, I was forced into freelance. That transition was one of the scariest moments of my life, but also the most rewarding. It forced me to grind, build my brand, and believe in my own work.
Then my car got broken into and I lost all my gear… that was another low point. Years of saving just gone in a moment. But instead of quitting, I doubled down. I started rebuilding piece by piece, picking up jobs, reinvesting in myself, and finding ways to keep moving forward. That experience taught me resilience, resourcefulness, and the importance of mindset.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and my brand, it’s that I genuinely care. I care about the work, about the people I collaborate with, and about pushing myself to deliver something meaningful. I’m not just pressing record—I’m putting thought, emotion, and intent into everything I create. My goal is always to tell stories that leave an impact, whether it’s on a small screen or a big one.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ahhh, let’s see. Whenever someone comes into town here in Dallas, we have to grab burgers at RG Burgers in Denton. I grew up on those burgers—not just because I worked there, but because they’re genuinely fire.
If we’re rolling deep with a big group, I’m definitely taking everyone to Truck Yard at Grandscape. It’s the perfect spot for drinks, good convos, live music, and food trucks—plus it’s outdoors and has that chill vibe.
For a Texas staple, we’re heading up north to Hutchins BBQ. Hands down, it’s some of the best barbecue you’ll find in this great state. And if we’ve got a full day? You already know—it’s a boat day at the various lakes or out fishing at some ponds.
For more experiences, I usually scope out flyers, events, or invites online through Instagram or Facebook. Checking who’s performing on SeatGeek or Ticketmaster is clutch too—always something happening around here.
I really think the best experiences in this city come from the mix of diverse food across the metroplex and that signature Texas hospitality. You’ve also got sports year-round and plenty of arcades and experiences scattered all over. I’m a foodie at heart, so I’ll always lean toward good food with good people every chance I get. The smaller the spot the more likely the food is going to hit harder!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely gotta give a shoutout to my friend, the GOAT, and brother, Robert Underwood IV. He believed in me early on and gave me the confidence to trust my work and push myself creatively. That was a huge turning point. He opened the door to a whole new world—working with clients, traveling, creating content on a bigger scale—and that experience shaped a lot of who I am as a creative today. We butt heads on things from time to time, but we’ve always shared ideas and collaborated to bring better work and experiences to our clients.
Another person who gave me my first real start in the world of marketing was Travis Ragsdale. He saw potential in me and gave me the opportunity to shadow him and learn a side of the ad space I never even considered growing up. Through him, I dove deeper into video, photography, social media, and motion graphics—skills that still play a big part in what I do today.
I also want to shout out all my childhood friends I used to shoot short films and make montages with back in the early days. We were just running around with cameras, making stuff for fun, and that energy is something I still carry with me. It reminded me that at the core of it all, creating is supposed to be fun and fueled by passion.
And of course, I have to thank my parents, who gave me the chance to chase my dreams by gifting me my first camera back in elementary school. That simple act—putting a camera in my hands—sparked everything. I honestly don’t know where I’d be without it.
