We had the good fortune of connecting with Lozen Ime and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lozen, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
You get tired of working for someone else. Working to grow the dreams of other people while yours get put on the sidelines. I wanted to do something where I was not only pursuing my own dreams but helping other people at the same time. It’s always been my passion to simply live the life I want, to be free to do things my way. For a long time my life was all about other people. Making sure everyone around me was happy until I realized I was the main person who wasn’t happy. I had created a life all about helping everyone but myself. While I was just holding on by a thread, most people couldn’t see it because I had committed to being the person to be there for everyone. Starting my own business is less about the money and more about the autonomy and showing up for the little girl in me who’s just wanted to be free. Free to express, free to create and free to love her life. Entrepreneurship to me is the most devotion you can have to and for yourself because it’s the commitment to your dream and bringing them to reality.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Lozen Wellness is my company that I used to share my journey and my process. I act as a guide assisting people on their journey to healing and enlightenment. What sets me apart is my approach and the way I break information down helps people understand language that society uses in a complex way to make it palatable for the regular person. I make sure the information is digestible and simple to be easily understood and applied. I started Lozen Wellness because along my healing journey I realized that I didn’t have to suffer. Life didn’t have to be as hard as people make it out to be and there’s answers for a lot of the questions we have if we ask the right ones. That’s how I was lead here, simply wanting to bring people together so they could find happiness and joy in life too. I’m excited that I’m now in a place where I’m ready to spread my wings and fly. Before I was shy and apprehensive about sharing my insights and journey. Being fearful of being seen and sharing my vulnerabilities with the world. It’s nice to have cultivated safety within myself enough to no longer be fearful of my purpose. Overcoming the challenges within my business is nice because it goes hand in hand. My growth is a direct reflection of the growth of my company so yes it’s been hard but it’s been worth it because I watch in real time how my decision to show up consistently, to be vulnerable, to be intentional with the content I create has begun to form my community and leads me to more followers and higher interaction with my content.

Some lessons I’ve learned along the way are staying true to yourself. Knowing that there is only one you so do your best to be that person. The world will never be oversaturated with you. It’s impossible. To shine your light because you never know who it’ll reach in their darkness. To keep believing in yourself because one day, it’ll all make sense. To build endurance, knowing that this journey is meant for you to enjoy and not to rush to the end. When you rush, you miss the beauty and you don’t enjoy the ride. Even if it’s a phase you don’t like, you’ll never get it back when it’s gone and believe it or not, you’ll miss this era. Know you can’t get what you don’t give to yourself first. Always create content when the inspiration hits you or the idea pops up, don’t wait until it fades away.

I want the world to know, my brand is made for everyone and anyone. It’s meant to show that we are all going through different version of the same things. It’s meant to show you that where’s there’s a will there’s a way. It’s never too late to turn your life around no matter how grim things look. I want it to serve as inspiration to show what’s possible in this life. That we are all connected and life is easier when we work together and see each other as one and united rather than separated and divided. Lozen Wellness saved me and I hope it can give someone hope like it has for me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a best friend visiting for a week…

Monday
We’d start the week with a grounding morning yoga session at **Black Swan Yoga** followed by a nourishing brunch at **Tribal All Day Café** in Bishop Arts—perfect for good vibes and even better açaí bowls. In the afternoon, we’d explore **The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden** to reconnect with nature and soak in the peaceful energy. We’d wind down the day with mocktails and soulful conversation at **The Alcove Wine & Coffee Bar**.

Tuesday
Time to tap into art and culture. We’d spend the day at the **Dallas Museum of Art** and maybe catch a special exhibit at the **Nasher Sculpture Center**. Lunch would be at **True Food Kitchen**, where healthy and flavorful meet. For the evening, we’d head to **Klyde Warren Park**, grab food from a truck, and enjoy live music or a free outdoor fitness class.

Wednesday
Midweek wellness reset. We’d visit **King Spa** for a full day of relaxation, sauna healing, and self-care. Afterward, a late lunch at **Recipe Oak Cliff**, a Black-owned vegan spot, would hit the spot. Then we’d catch a spoken word or live poetry event—something raw and real at **Sandaga 813** or a local creative space.

Thursday
Let’s explore some Black-owned businesses and boutiques—stopping by **The Pan-African Connection Bookstore**, grabbing juices at **Juice Dallas**, and doing a little spiritual shopping at **The Crystal Source**. Dinner would be at **Kitchen + Kocktails**—a beautiful space with soulful flavors and stunning aesthetics.

Friday
A nature escape to **Cedar Ridge Preserve** for a hike and some quiet meditation. After the hike, we’d refresh at **Bonton Farms**—a truly inspiring space doing community-driven wellness right. That night, it’s all about joy and rhythm: a live show at **The Factory in Deep Ellum**, followed by dancing at **Truth & Alibi** (a speakeasy-style bar with vibes).

Saturday
We’d start with a wellness pop-up or sound bath event (there are always healing circles happening in Dallas if you know where to look). Then, brunch at **The Island Spot** for Caribbean comfort food and live music. That afternoon, we’d explore Bishop Arts District—shopping, murals, and maybe a quick tarot or astrology reading. Evening plans? A cute dinner at **XOXO Dining Room**, then catching a rooftop sunset at Canvas Hotel

Sunday
To close out the trip with intention, we’d attend a community healing or spiritual service—something open and uplifting. Brunch would be at **V-Eats Modern Vegan**, and the rest of the day would be for rest, journaling, and reflecting at **White Rock Lake**. Maybe even a mini photo shoot to capture all the love and light from the week.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to thank God for my life and my journey, otherwise, none of this would be possible. My parents and ancestors for the sacrifices they’ve made to allow me to be here today. My friends and family for their love and support. I’ve seen in this season just how important your community is and I don’t know where I’d be without them. I want to thank my Ile Geechie family for journeying with me and allowing me to heal and growth with them. Welcoming me in and allowing me to be a part of something greater than myself. I want to thank Lozen Ime for the life she lived while she was here. Being named after her is an honor and a privilege. Also, just any and everyone who has contributed to my journey and success.
