We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Kountz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We decided we wanted our hobby to start paying for itself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been working as an assistant manager at a low-income apartment community for a few years now. Before that, I spent 20 years in restaurant management, often working 50 to 90 hours a week. When my restaurant closed, it gave me the chance to make a much-needed change. Moving into property management provided me with a better work-life balance, which was something I had never experienced before. That balance also gave me the opportunity to pursue a personal dream: starting Corvus Manor. While I still put in long hours managing both the apartment community and my own business, I truly enjoy seeing Corvus Manor grow and thrive—it’s incredibly rewarding to build something I’m passionate about while having fun along the way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If we were hosting a friend, I’d plan a mix of unique and memorable experiences. We’d start with reservations at the Pocket Sandwich Theater for dinner and a show at one of their popcorn throwing melodramas, a fun and interactive experience. For dinner one evening, Kura Sushi would be a great choice, offering a fun experience and excellent food. If a comic convention happens to be in town, we could attend in cosplay. Alternatively, we might spend an evening at the Addison Improv comedy club for some laughs. Of course, sometimes the best moments are the simplest—just relaxing at home, sharing great conversations.”

This shoutout goes to my wife Dara Kountz. Without her encouragement, patience and huge amounts of help, Corvus Manor would never have existed.
