We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Day and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victoria, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Creativity allows us to express things that sometimes you cannot put into words. We have always been passionate about both creativity and science. Aesthetic nursing has given us the platform to do both while we help people feel beautiful in the skin they’re in. We thrive on enhancing people’s natural beauty which in turn gives them that boost of confidence to feel good about themselves. We have an eye for this sort of thing and that is what it takes. The ability to see what others cannot to give natural enhancements and the understanding of anatomy. We have years of experience tailoring treatments to each individual and creating results that empower our clients.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The path in aesthetics is never easy. It takes a lot of dedication and persistence in this industry. You will get many No’s before getting one Yes. The biggest challenge I had to face was getting started. Before I entered into the industry I was a nurse for four years and it was still challenging to get any mentorship. Thankfully, I was blessed with an opportunity that changed my life and made me realize that Aesthetic nursing was my passion. It’s not just about learning how to do the services but also about learning social media, marketing, business etc. These things were never taught to me in nursing school so I have learned through a lot of trial and error. Doretta Spates, my mentor, has been in the business for 20 years which learning from her has taught me so much. What sets us apart at Medical Spa of Mansfield is providing personalized care. It is so important to us to focus on creating customized plans for each client and asking the question “What do you see when you look at you?”.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We have so many good eats in Dallas. The week you cannot really go wrong eating any Tex-Mex or BBQ restaurant. On Friday night, I would say Moxies is good for food and drinks, that will definitely have you ready for the weekend. Visiting Klyde Warren Park is a must during the day on Saturday, and maybe Yoga on the lawn if you are there early enough. The best spot for drinks is definitely Leelas, especially during the holiday season. They have some of the best drinks. Lower Greenville has nice bars and some really unique food for Saturday nights. I’m obsessed with Wabi house so that is a must. On Sunday morning the Farmers market is a must. A lot of good food places out there. I would take them to the Art Park to enjoy the vibes and drinks and then downtown because you have to go. Lastly my friend cannot leave without eating some Hendersons Chicken it’s a must.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is to my medical director Dr. Franklin Nwachukwu and my mentor Doretta Spates DNP, APRN-BC for bringing me into this expansion of the business. They are like family to me. Bringing me in as a partner through social media and decision making has truly been such an honor. Dr. Franklin partnered with DLS Aesthetics to expand to Mansfield in the Mattison Avenue Salons to create Medical Spa of Mansfield. DLS Aesthetics has mentored me throughout the last few months and couldn’t be more blessed about what is to come for the future of the clinic. Of course big thank you to all of our clients and loved ones supporting us on this journey as well.
