Meet Deavon Moore | Retail Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Deavon Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deavon, what role has risk played in your life or career?
In the retail business I has always been a risk taker. You are competing with a multitude of stores who carry the same product. Sometimes you need to be first to market to make an impact.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
If anyone thinks retail is easy you must know a secret that I do not know 🙂 I got to where I am today by believing that I could make an impact in the community doing what I love. It isn’t easy being an entrepreneur. I don’t really ever think I have done enough. I challenge myself everyday in some way. I have learned to fail, get back up and keep going. What I want people to know is I started DLM for the community and connection. I wanted to create something that I was proud of in a community I chose to live in.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I more than likely are taking my friends to Il Bracco for Italian or the patio at Parigis. Taco y vino for tacos! (go ahead and get the tex mex and fried avocado tacos- you will thank me ). Two places I would more than likely take someone for a drink Tiny Victories and Jettison.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to mention the Dallas Small Business Administration. They were amazing and offer tons of free classes and seminars. I have so many people to thank for getting DLM off the ground. I had former colleges, friends, reps, and family helping me when I was days away from opening.
