We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevan O’malley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I knew that there was a need for floatation therapy in Fort Worth, as there was no one providing it when I first started. I saw how much it did for me, and wanted to provide that for other people. Considering that, I felt very secure in starting the business and knowing it would be successful.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I think what sets Fort Worth Float Company apart is that aside from being a small, independent business, I’ve been running everything myself since opening, with a couple of small exceptions. I didn’t ever hire a real employee until my 7th year. I felt and still feel that it’s very important to be able to oversee everything in order to ensure as good of an experience as possible for my guests. It definitely hasn’t been easy, and has taken a lot of work to get things to this level. My current focus is maintaining as much balance as possible between work and life while still being here 6 days a week, and having a new born baby at home, as well as a 9 year old and another kid entering high school.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely teachers. They were of course a huge part of my development and life, and I was also a teacher before starting Fort Worth Float Company. So I know first hand how hard they work, and how much they need something like this to balance out their hard work, and continue to be at their best for the students.
