We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan A. Blake and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan A., we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It was late 2022, and we’d just lost my mom to Scleroderma- a rare, insidious autoimmune disease. Consumed by grief, I made a selfish mistake that caused my fiance to end our engagement just two months after my mom’s passing. You’ll have to read Entangled Books I and II to learn the juicy, riveting details of what really happened, but I was in pain. I no longer had my human “portal” into this world, and I’d just lost the love of my life. When I decided to confide in friends and family, disbelief was the general, immediate response. It seemed as though they thought I was recounting a plotline from a movie rather than sharing my own experience. I wish that was the case, but unfortunately, that flabbergasting “storyline” was my reality. The overwhelming consensus was, “Meg, you’ve got to write a book!” I laughed it off, but I did write a few diary entries. Not only were those entries cathartic, but rereading them did seem like I was engulfed in a bestselling tale. One that would keep anyone on the edge of their seat. So I took my friends’ advice, and chose not to let the rest of my life be defined by my mistake. Within 6 months, I transmuted my pain into empowerment by transforming my personal telenovela into a captivating, 3-part erotic thriller series. Thanks to that trying time in my life, I’m now an independently published author, and on the road to healing! Entangled Book I is available now on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Apple Books. Emancipated: Entangled Book II releases on June 14th, and Book III is in production!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I attended the University of North Texas before becoming a Flight Attendant for a major airline. After college, I wasn’t ready for the 9-5 life. I craved freedom and flexibility, which a job in aviation afforded. I told myself (and my parents who paid for my education) that I’d travel the world for a couple of years, then put my degree to use. Well… That was 8 years ago, and I couldn’t imagine my life any other way. I’m proud of, and grateful for my career. I’m grateful that I’m able to make a living through, what I consider to be, the most fun job in the world, yet also have the time and energy to explore other endeavors. Like writing a series of books. I want the world to know that I’m here, and it’s time I’ve gotten acquainted with all of you through sharing my gifts. The Megan A. Blake brand, the Entangled Series, and the many books to come are reminiscent of the legendary Zane, Eric Jerome Dickey, Sister Soulja, and Wahida Clark era. My books are a revival of the erotic fiction we used to sneak into school, read within a week, and pass around to our friends. It’s an honor and privilege to have the skills and resources to follow their footsteps. One day, I plan to explore other genres like fantasy, science fiction, and maybe even self-development. There is an arsenal of untapped stories in my brain, and I plan to entertain the masses with them for the years to come. Until then, I will write the most intriguing, sexiest, romantic thriller escape reads ever.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Okay, I said I loved the first question, but this one is probably my favorite.

I live in the heart of Downtown Dallas which is a really happening area. We have everything! I’d take my bestie to Nick & Sam’s in Uptown immediately after touch down. They’ve got the best Tomahawk in Dallas, and it’s 100% not up for debate. They also have a ridiculous 7 layer rainbow cake that we’d have to have just because. We’d take selfies at Rainbow Vomit ‘til we dropped. It’s a really cool, colorful, immersive art exhibit. We’d have to visit the Reunion Tower for panoramic views of Dallas, hear live music in Bishop Arts, and have yoga at Harwood Park to balance our indulgence.

This is probably a polarizing take, but we’d have fajita’s and drinks at Joe T.’s in DALLAS, not Fort Worth (sorry, yall). Before departing, we’d take a mini road trip to Frisco for hot pot at HaidiLao.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh wow, I love this question! First and foremost, I’d have to shout my parents out. You show me the best parents in the world, and I’d put mine up against them any day. My mom and dad didn’t always agree with my life decisions, but they’ve always been most supportive. My dad has been a pillar of strength for me since my mom’s passing; very encouraging, and one of my biggest fans throughout my journey to publishing my first novel. When my mom was with us, she epitomized the ideal woman- loving, beautiful, gentle, but also hard working. My dad provided a life for us that didn’t require her to do anything but stay home and raise me. Her comfortable position didn’t stop her from following her dreams, though. She was wonder woman. She did it all. And in honor of her memory, now I am too.

My piano teacher, Stephanie Scott of Houston, TX also deserves recognition. For the 7 years I was under her instruction, I thought she was the meanest, most strict woman on the planet. I didn’t know that one day, I’d need the structure and intense discipline she instilled in me. She has a huge hand in the woman I’ve become.

I’d also be remiss to not shout out the amazing individuals who make up the majority of my book’s fanbase- my flight attendant cohorts. Entangled was written by a flight attendant, for flight attendants… initially. As an indie, first time author, I truly believed my aviation coworkers would be the sole audience interested in my stories. With my book being based on a workplace romance inspired by real events, I anticipated selling only a handful of copies to them (if anybody enjoys a juicy storyline, it’s us flight attendants). To my surprise, their enthusiasm skyrocketed my book’s success! They shared the news of my book on social media, through word of mouth, and even made popular TikTok reviews. Entangled garnered a lot more exposure to audiences I never imagined reaching, thanks to them. I owe much of my success as an author to them.
