We had the good fortune of connecting with Casey Buscher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Casey, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Being authentic and true to myself. I think people best connect with ‘real’ people so I always try to be myself when it comes to my brand and who I am!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It has been a grind getting to where I am today. It took years of doing things unpaid, internships, jobs, different roles, mentorship, working nights, weekends, you name it. I have been working in sports for the last 10 years and I have loved the journey. It hasn’t always been easy but it was so worth it. Through challenges, I always believed in myself and supported myself. I constantly bet on my self day after day and believed that all of the hard work over the years would pay off. I think if I could give one piece of advice to anyone trying to get into a difficult and very competitive field, like sports, it would be to be KIND to people. When I look back on my journey, the people who were rude, mean or unsupportive will always stick out to me. It’s not hard to be kind and it’s not hard to be supportive to those coming up behind you. I will always be a voice for those behind me and I will always be a resource. It’s so important.

The grind was always worth it, I am so thankful for the journey. The hard times made the good times ever better. All I ever wanted to do growing up was work in sports and it is so amazing to be living that dream!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is so much to do in Dallas!
Depending on the time of year, I would take my best friend to a Mavs, Rangers or Cowboys game to explore some of the sports scene here. I would take her to La La Land, grab a latte then go walk on the Katy Trail. Another fun thing to do here is boating! So I would take her to the lake to go boating and hang out in the sunshine.

There is also a ton of amazing brunches here so we could go to brunch at a spot downtown and for dinner, I would take her to my favorite steakhouse Nick & Sam’s!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family and friends have been the best support system to me over the course of my journey. I wouldn’t be where I am in my career without them. Additionally, Ed Mylett has been an unbelievable resource to me whether that is reading his books or listening to his podcasts, he has made a huge difference in my life and my career.
