Meet Joo Yun | Wedding and Event Floral designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joo Yun and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joo, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by nature and naturally by each and every flower. Even if they are the same type of flower, each blossom gives a different color, shape, and feeling.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We believe we are somewhat special in Asian weddings. Each country has unique rituals and wedding cultures, and because we have done a variety of Asian weddings for a long time, we understand their culture and wedding ceremonies well. We design the flowers to match, which sets us apart from other florists.
Managing living flowers in the ever-changing Dallas weather is a delicate challenge. Despite the beauty of working with flowers, behind the scenes we meticulously care for everything from the smallest vase to each flower stem and leaf. After the wedding and the beautiful party, we also handle a significant amount of unseen work to clean up the venue.
However, every wedding is precious and we are grateful because we get to share the most important day of our clients’ lives. We appreciate their trust and choice to include us in their special day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, I would like to show them around the neighborhood where I live. I think my close friends would enjoy seeing the place I live and feel most comfortable. I believe they would love to visit my favorite restaurants and cafés that I frequent. If I were to choose one more place, it would be the Dallas Arboretum. I would love to show them around, as it changes beautifully with the seasons throughout the year. Additionally, I would also take them to downtown, where we could explore, dine at a restaurant with great food, and have relaxed conversations.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, my family. Without them, I don’t think I could have led Iamstyling to where it is today. It was possible because they always supported, helped, and stood by me. Also, Iamstyling in South Korea. I am so grateful for introducing me to flowers, teaching me, and continuing to support me to this day. Even though they are far away in South Korea, they inspire me to work harder and make Iamstyling even more amazing, true to its name.
