We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristi Denoy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristi, how does your business help the community?
My business was started, as most journeys are, because of a bad personal experience that blossomed into a fierce passion. Prior to becoming pregnant with my second child, I’d gone on a healing journey that showed me how powerful food can be in terms of our health. When I was postpartum, I was plunged into postpartum anxiety (and anxiety had never been a part of my story). I reached out to my OBGYN and my primary care physician…and no one would help me. I felt unheard, abandoned, and then really angry. From there, I decided to become a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner so I could specialize in prenatal and postpartum nutrition, lifestyle, and mindset. Since becoming certified, I’ve helped women in the throes of postpartum turmoil thrive, and that is worth more than I can say.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own and run a small private nutritional therapy practice focusing on prenatal and postpartum nutrition. This journey has included women who are trying to prep their body for conception, pregnant women, postpartum women struggling with hormones, hemorrhoids, breast implant illness, and tired toddler mamas looking for some calm in the chaos of motherhood. I launched this business last year and 2020 brought a lot of uncertainty. I’ve been pleasantly surprised that the current climate has people leaning into investing in their health, so I’ve actually seen an increase in clients. The best part of this business in 2020 has been networking with other like-minded providers who are also passionate about prenatal and postpartum women, because now more than ever, this population needs a village. I am so proud that I am empowering these women on their journeys and seeing their progress and how much better they feel is incredible. One of my clients is now pursuing certification as well because of the impact our work had on her. You can’t beat that.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in a suburb of Dallas, so any time I get to spend a weekend in Dallas, I make sure to live it up and eat all the delicious foods! We’d eat at Flower Child (the best gluten-free mac and cheese on the planet), Gather Kitchen (their gluten-free chicken and waffles are my tween’s favorite), and Henk’s because it is an experience and the German food can’t be beat. If my friend was a vegetarian, I’d definitely introduce them to Cosmic Cafe. We’d also head to the farmer’s market, the flagship Half-Price Books (with a stop into Black Forrest Cafe), and either the DMA or Perot. We’d spend some time in Klyde Warren, too. And if there was time, we’d hit up the Dallas Zoo. We’re members and are big fans.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I suppose that it’s a little cliche to give a shoutout to my husband and kids, but that’s who’s getting it, My husband is my biggest cheerleader and my sounding board and he encourages me to follow my passions. My daughters Ainsley (11) and Savannah (2) constantly inspire me to continue to work hard and be creative. I want to be a role model to them and I want them to see that moms can help others and be successful, too.
