We had the good fortune of connecting with Bianca Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bianca, what’s your definition for success?
When I think of success I think about all the small things I wanted before going on my own. Freedom to take whatever days off, the ability of play the music I like in my space, wearing whatever I want, having the flexibility of bringing on the products I want, taking classes that are more tailored to my goals. Of course it’s nice being my own boss, but the success is the freedom to do what I want. The long hours, the paper work, the inventory, the loads of laundry, all worth it!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Wild Hare Salon was created as a result of an experienced professional wanting to create a different experience for their clients. The most exciting part of this new venture was having the opportunity to decide what clean products would be used and creating an overall low-key chill vibe. After 10 years of working in a fast paced and sales motivated environment, I’d learned a ton about hair and what I wanted for myself. I knew that going on my own would not be easy. The challenges that came with starting my own business are some of the best lessons I’ve learned. I learned that I can actually be a very organized human but only if it’s for my work haha. But in all seriousness, I learned that I truly love what I do and if your hearts in it everything will fall into place. The Wild Hare Salon started out as dream and turned into actually working in a clean space with wellness in mind for the mind, soul and locks.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So if my bestie was in town and we wanted to have the most Denton day, I’d have to start out with grabbing a couple of oat milk lavender lattes at Jupiter House. We would then hop over the Cartwrights and grab a little breakfast that would have both of us patting our bellies. We’d walk off the food and explore the Mini mall and count how many cute cats you see. We’d then hop over to East Side and grab a little afternoon drink on the patio where we’d talk about what a fun day we’ve had. In my opinion hanging out with my friends on the square is one of those things that just never gets old. Definitely one of my favorite things about Denton!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents! Both of which have been my biggest supporters. My dad called it and encouraged me to go to cosmetology school after watching me fry my own hair at home time and time again. The rest is history!
