We had the good fortune of connecting with Talonda (TeeJay) Garrett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Talonda (TeeJay), what matters most to you?
Integrity is the most important value for me. Operating with integrity is essential as it forms the foundation of trust in any relationship, be it personal or professional. I strongly believe that when you operate with integrity, you can gracefully navigate through challenges, earn the respect of others, and set an example for others to follow.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always been passionate about baking and discovered my natural talent for cake decorating when I took a class. I am proud of the unique style and perspective that I bring to my work, and I feel fulfilled by the connections I make with my customers. Though my journey has been challenging, I have learned to embrace fear as a natural part of growth and use perseverance and resilience to overcome setbacks. I want to inspire others to pursue their dreams with authenticity and without hesitation. My goal is to make a positive impact through my gift and reflect my authentic self in everything I create.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend and I enjoy exploring new cultures and cuisines, so I would plan a week-long trip to a new city to discover hidden dining gems. We would visit food trucks, street markets, and music venues. We’d spend a day at the beach… and the spa! I believe that some of the most interesting places are those that have yet to be visited. I’m always open to a new adventure and just living in the moment.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my amazing family, friends, and loyal customers who have supported me every step of the way. Their love, encouragement, and unwavering belief in me have been invaluable as I navigate through this journey. I am truly grateful for their constant support and for always being there to lift me up when I need it the most. They have all been a consistent source of inspiration and motivation for me.

I’m thankful to say that a lot of my business has come from referrals outside of my family. I thank God every single day for my ability to bring smiles to so many people. I’m grateful for every opportunity that has come my way and for the chance to become a part of so many people’s lives through this gift.

I’d like to give a special thanks to my husband Brian, who pushed me to make my first sale.
