We had the good fortune of connecting with Marsha Lynn Hudson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marsha Lynn, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my business is my digital footprint. When I say digital footprint, I mean creating a brand presence online. Creating a brand presence on social media, YouTube, my podcast, and through my email has had a tremendous effect on the success of my business. Creating a consistent digital footprint has opened doors to speaking and coaching opportunities. The success of my brand is a result of my being visible and creating content that speaks to my ideal audience’s pain points, struggles, frustrations, and desires. Overall, the success of a business comes with a combination of building an online presence, building relationships, and building trust. When you build trust, you attract your dream clients.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is about helping other entrepreneurs grow their businesses. As a brand and online marketing strategist and leadership trainer, my business is always to make sure I know what my clients’ problems are when it comes to their business goals, and to be the guide to get them to where they want to be. I was a Professor of Literature for 22 years before retiring and what sets me apart is my step-by-step and easy-to-follow teaching methods. People do not want to be stuck and overwhelmed and my style of teaching clients is what sets me apart. I am most proud when I hear of a client I helped who is growing in the business and moving to new heights. I get so excited about that. I am also excited about where I am taking my business. My word for this year is “Ascend” and I am so excited that I am moving up and leveling up. Yes, there have been challenges along the way. There were money challenges and brand challenges, and sometimes some inner barriers that I had to crush. But, I crushed those barriers, and I still have to fight at times now, but I am moving forward and jumping all in. Out of the challenges of crushing barriers, came my book. ” Crushing Barriers: Succeeding in Life and Business. This book became a program, a training lesson, and a membership. I took this one idea of a book from my challenges and turned it into a profitable part of my business. My book can be found on Amazon. The lessons I learned along the way were to define my purpose and focus on that and stay on the path for me. I learned that when I was all over the place with no focus and no strategy, my business didn’t grow. When I learned to focus and create a simplified system- my business started growing. I want to known as the go to marketing and leadership strategist, and when people think of someone to help them solve their problems, I want them to think of me as their guide. That is my brand story.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Houston, Texas and my favorite spot is called City Center. I love being in City Center, especially on a beautiful day. You can eat outside there, grab a Starbucks coffee, get ice cream, sit in the open seating area around the waterfall, and so much more. You can catch a movie there and go to workout at the gym. People even live in City Center. It is like an entire city all in one in this nice area where you can walk and have family fun and listen to live music all at the same time. What I really love is the outdoor nature of it all. I love sitting outside reading and thinking in nature. I would take my friends to one of the outside dining spots and then maybe for a treat like an ice cream or Starbucks. If it were a week-long trip, we would eat at Yard House, BellaGreen, Dish Society, or Chipotle. We could catch a matinee or hang out at the local bookstore there. Some of the most interesting things to do is to relax in the garden area and chill while listening to live music.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shout out to my best friend and husband, Malcolm Hudson. He is such a big supporter of me. He has been there through the challenges, through the doubt and overwhelm, and he has been there through the wins. I could not be as strong and successful as I am without him. I would like to shout out to my awesome family who supports all that I do. I also want to give a shout-out to my awesome women friends in my circle, supporters, and followers. I don’t believe a successful person gets to be successful alone. Surrounding yourself with the right positive people and a like-minded community of people are two key elements to becoming successful.
