We had the good fortune of connecting with Erfan Ebadipour and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erfan, why did you pursue a creative career?
I knew in my teens that music was something I was willing to study the art of. By way of an apprentice to profession sort of relationship. I also knew that it was the only career that afforded me the time and space to live and experience life at my own pace and in my own timing.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started as most musicians do, at church. Seldom, at least when I was starting, did one get an opportunity to be messing around with hundreds of thousands / millions of dollars of equipment as a teenager in high school. From playing some of the most iconic guitars to working with some of the most talented people who would later become masters of their respective crafts. Not just in music but photographers, videographers, directors, stage designers. You name it.

Eventually, in my habit of being a seeker, I wanted to see what all sort of creative endeavors and processes were out there. My earlier years in Dallas taught me a lot about discernment and about what matters and what just doesn’t. The difference between having success and being happy. Perhaps most importantly, what I wanted and what I thought I did. Eventually landing me in my current workflow and routine. Fortunately the business has changed in a way that favors how I’d like my career to go.

All I make and create is stuff that I would personally listen to first. I make it in a way that I personally can meditate to it or it can inspire something in me. If that works for anyone else, then all the better I say! Fortunately, the feedback to sharing this upcoming record has been exactly what I designed it around. Feels good to have a goal in mind and it is received the way i’d intended. it for the most part.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being a resident in the Bishop Arts area, I’m a little biased in saying that the best community has to be here. All the perks of being in the city with having a smaller community that really looks out for one another is difficult to beat.

That said the first stop would be to grab coffee at La Reunion. Breakfast at Tribal next door. Go down the street to Davis Street Mercantile for knick knacks and gifts. Work our way back to Cesars Taco’s for lunch. Go further back down to House Rules to pick up some Magic The Gathering and Pokemon cards. Salty Donut for a early dinner sweet. Wayward Cowboy for a evening coffee pick me up. Dinner at Chan Thai and top it back off at La Reunion for the best drinks with the best bartenders in town!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I absolutely would not be anywhere close to any amount of success and quality of life that I currently have without my parents. They weren’t at all familiar with the career I chose but were supportive with what they did know. Which is more than I could’ve hoped for. Not many have people have parents that are as consistently positive as them.

The same goes for every single person I regularly have in my life. Everyone seems to be on their own track and growing. Which is inspiring for me to keep myself productive as well. Not the least of these my wife 🙂
