We had the good fortune of connecting with Jake Randall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jake, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I grew up in the bustling city of Southlake, Tx. I came from a supportive and loving family that was into sports and numerous outdoor activities. I had a fierce passion for horses and livestock, and I knew it’s what I wanted to do the rest of my life. It was a passion that only God can engrave on one’s heart. I grew up at a barn in Southlake with an awesome mentor who taught me the ins and outs of the business. I had a horsemanship instructor that naturally taught respect, wisdom, and major self awareness. Being in the city of Southlake there were many families involved in agriculture. When I became a teen, I knew I wanted to continue to teach the art of horsemanship and animal husbandry to the kids in suburbia. I set out on a mission to teach the horsemanship and help instill the passion that God gave me to others.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I think what truly sets us apart from other horsemanship schools, is how advanced we take our material. We love to teach in depth details about horsemanship and safety. We were trained and certified through the CHA which is recognized by Texas law as the standard of safety and practice. By making detailed lessons plans and structuring our program well, we are able to give students a great platform for success.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Most of my friends are old souls. So we won’t be making your typical route for sight seeing. My friends are going to enjoy history, natural phenomenons, and good ole southern comfort dining. I could really write a novel about this but for the sake of space I’ll keep it simple. First stop would be Greenwood, Texas. Once the biggest town and county seat of Wise county. Has some rich history as well as some of the best all you can eat catfish in the old mercantile. Second would be the dinosaur valley state park. We’d go see the dinosaur footprints at the bottom of the Paluxy River. After that we’d go to the old town square there and eat at the Riverhouse grille in an 1800’s cottage. My last and personal favorite dining location in south of Abilene in Buffalo Gap. Yes, we drive 2.5 hours to eat and we’ve been doing it for 15+ years. They have award winning steaks, sides, desserts and rustic environment. Tom Perini hosts all of his guests on his family ranch under the live oaks of West Texas. The place couldn’t be more perfect.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Doreen Bruton, and Kelli Hurst are two major influences that have been helping me for the last 20 years be successful.
