We had the good fortune of connecting with Haley Laudermilt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Haley, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One thing about the tattoo industry that outsiders are unaware of is that tattooing isn’t an easy industry to get into, it’s takes a lot of dedication and time to not only build your portfolio but also find a shop that’s willing to take you on as an apprentice. Once you get an apprenticeship it’s not easygoing from there, you have to prove everyday you deserve to be apart of this industry, and you will have moments as an apprentice that you’ll question if this is the right decision or not, but I promise if you stick with you it will be the best decision you’ll ever make.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The best thing about my art is that it’s always changing, and I feel like that’s a good things because I push myself everyday to try and do new things. When I first started my career I stuck with the style that made me the most comfortable and slowly I realized I’m so new in my career to stick with one style. I need to push myself to try new techniques and styles. I want to be able to do anything a client asks of me without being uncertain if I can or not. I don’t want anything to hold me back later on in my career.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first place I would take them is probably the stock yards, it’s such a great place to bring the DFW experience to life, with good food and good entertainment you can’t go wrong with the stock yards. I would also take them by where I work, bonehead tattoo. Why not get a tattoo while they’re here!!
The last spot I would take them is probably Montgomery plaza area, there’s a great snow cone place called Bahama bucks , I would take them to get a snow cone and we could walk around the area, it’s so pretty at night with the lights and the scenery.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I will to give a shout out to my family , friends, and clients I honestly don’t think I would’ve made this far without their constant support and encouragement. Big shoutout to my dad, you were always the number one person I could count on in my life.
Also I would like to shoutout my sister
Kayla, you were my number one supporter not only in life but also my career so thank you for believing in me.
I would also like to shoutout my mentor Dayton Ivey for giving me the chance to be in this industry, and teaching me so much.
Last shoutout goes to my coworker Zoe Zahasky , for you words of encouragement and your constant support, I’m so glad I’m able to not only work alongside you but also call you my friend.
