We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks in my opinion will get you far…. you never know unless you try. About 10 yrs ago I decided to leave my cooperate job that I had worked at for over 10 yrs to pursue my passion for teaching dance. I never looked back. It even lead me to owning my own dance studio 11 yrs later. Its not easy taking risks but, I truly believe when you do and you listen to that gut feeling it will always lead you in the right direction. Taking a big risk lead me to do what I know I was meant to do in my life time. I get to give the joy of dance that brings confidence, joy, social skills, a fun exercise and a dance home to many people in Dallas/Fort Worth, Tx. Needless to say taking risks is the best advise I can give anyone and taking risks has benefited me tremendously.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Dance Teacher and studio owner of DanceMakers of Texas and Fort Worth Texas.

We are one of the only independent studios in Fort Worth, Texas. I am very proud to say I took ownership two years ago from a dear friend of mine Julie Ebe, who owned it 26 years before I took over. I am grateful that she trusted that I could step in to her shoes and run this amazing studio.

It has not been an easy road, but I would do it all over again today if I had to. I quit my corporate job 12 years ago to become a dance teacher and follow my passion at DanceMakers of Texas. I feel it was my destiny to be a dance teacher, and a studio owner. I know in my heart I am where I am supposed to be today.

I didn’t have the easiest life growing up… I was on my own at the age of 13 years old raising my two younger brothers.

I am a strong woman because of the things I have gone through and I am proud to have overcome hardship. I think hardship makes us stronger people. I am not afraid of taking a risk and will always work hard for my passions.

I now get to give the joy of dance to many people in Dallas/ Fort Worth in my dance home at DanceMakers of Texas.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I would definitely take them to my studio at DanceMakers of Texas and give them a dance lesson and then take them to a Friday night dance party at the studio so they could dance and meet new people. I would take them to Clear Fork area to eat and have drinks for lunch or dinner.
We would also go to the Fort Worth Water Gardens and walk around then, head over to the botanical gardens and Japanese gardens. I would take them kayaking at the trinity river one morning and have lunch at a park.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a shout out to my amazing dance students (too many to name). They are the ones that helped encourage me & physically helped me build out my Dance studio at DanceMakers of Texas. I am eternally thankful. Also, my fiancé Efrain who has been my rock & a huge supporter in every way possible.
