We had the good fortune of connecting with Sol Bontemps and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sol, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
I would like to be making comics professionally as well as working in animation and have a show someday❤️

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is a cartoonish/ anime style. I grew up in the late 90as and early 2000’s so I was heavily influenced by anime particularly Dragonball. -retry much I got to where I am today due to friends from the art community and word of mouth. I want folks to know I’m a weirdo who loves to draw

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Dude most of my friends are from Minnesota. One of my best friends came to visit and they were absolutely blown away from whataburger which blew my mind because it’s not even the best burger joint. That belongs to hopdoddy’s don’t @ me. However downtown Dallas has some of the best parks I’ve been too and just cool spots to chill and relax.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly I owe a lot to my friends Ember and Freddie Schwager. I loved with them during a time in North Dakota and they truly helped me understand art and comics a lot more. They also have been my rock during very difficult times and I really wouldn’t have gotten far without them.
