We had the good fortune of connecting with Lori Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lori, how do you think about risk?
I think risks are important to take and sometimes necessary to help you elevate into the next chapter of your life. My biggest risk I’ve taken in life thus far is moving to Dallas for a job when I knew nobody that lived there. I’m so grateful this job opportunity presented itself to me and that I took the risk of getting out of my comfort zone. I have met some of the best people and just had to trust that everything would work out. Risk taking can be scary but it is so worth it!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started working in sports in 2018, a year after graduating college with a communications degree. I never even had the thought of working in sports but I had an opportunity to join start working for Spurs Sports and Entertainment in the season ticket service department. I ended up working with them for 3 years, and was part of the group that was used to working full time, 5 days a week in the office and then once Covid hit, transitioning to working from home full time which was a huge adjustment. I was really involved in the organization by being part of the social activities committee as well. Then in 2021 I was informed about a job with the Dallas Cowboys within their season ticket service department and I knew I needed to jump on this opportunity. I have now been with the Cowboys organization for almost 2 years and have been loving every minute of it! My bosses in both organizations have been amazing leaders and have taught me so much throughout my career. Getting to where I am today, was definitely not easy because I was unfamiliar with Dallas as a whole so moving to a new city, not knowing anybody was a huge adjustment. At times I often doubted myself and was unsure I made the right move because I missed my family and friends, but I stuck it out and now I have a whole community in Dallas that I can trust, as well as in San Antonio.
I’m very proud of both my professional and personal growth, one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is trusting in myself and knowing that God has a plan for me. Learning to trust the process has been tough but remaining optimistic through it all has really helped.
I want people to know that I have put in a lot of work to be where I am today but of course it came with many outside challenges but as long as you keep your eyes on the prize and can envision the future you want, you can achieve anything.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friends came to visit me in Dallas, one of the first areas I would take them to would be to The Bishop Arts District. I love that there are so many restaurants, shops, and businesses in the area that are owned by locals and showcase some of the culture in Dallas. To get drinks I would take them to Parliament in Uptown and Casablanca in Bishop Arts. To eat I would take them to Cane Rosso, Family Thais Resturant, Shuggs, and Oddfellows. To hangout and get some amazing views of the city, I would take them to Happiest Hour, Te Deseo, and also Griggs Park. I would also take them walking around the State Thomas area in uptown. And of course take them to Reunion Tower and to the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge/ Trinity Groves area to take some awesome photos.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my family especially my mom and sister, they have always supported, loved, and encouraged me to go after my dreams and all around live a happy successful life.
