We had the good fortune of connecting with Stevie Dawn Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stevie Dawn, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I feel there are 3 main habits that have helped me to succeed as a business owner. 1. Be willing to ask for help. I wasn’t so willing in the beginning, but once I realized that I was not going to make it without help, I reached out, got a coach, and my whole world changed. So much so, that as I grew in my business I became a coach so I could help others. You have to be willing to ask for help. Over and over again to reach your dreams. 2. Just keep swimming. Since I am addicted to sharks, this quote sticks with me. You have to be willing to keep moving. You may not know exactly what you are doing or where you are heading, but as long as you keep moving, you will learn, grow, and get there. Just keep swimming. 3. Create processes. I learned early on that there were things I had to do in business that I didn’t enjoy, however, they were necessary to success. So I created processes and systems to help me accomplish those tasks without a ton of effort. If there is something you have to do, but don’t love, create a system/process around it and make it a habit. You will get it done. You will move forward.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When I left the corporate world, I only had a very vague idea of what I would build. I planned on using my current set of skills (leadership training) in a corporate environment, so I became a corporate trainer/consultant. I had no idea that a rather vague idea would lead me to where I am today; a national speaker and coach, helping people to find unstoppable success in their lives through chasing their joy. It has grown so far beyond leadership development, that it is hard to believe that is where it started. Today, I am able to work with clients all over the world in one-on-one settings, through group coaching, or from stage. I get to talk about everything from success. mindset, being an entrepreneur, emotional intelligence, productivity, and more. I get to share the journey with my husband, who works with me full-time in our business. I get to see the impact I make in the world when someone finally realizes that it is not about living outside the box. It is about realizing that there is no box. To see people achieve their dreams…get that promotion, become a mom, or start a side-hustle. I cannot imagine a better way to live my life. And to think it started as a vague idea that I just kept playing with, tweaking and pushing, until I created a career I loved.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I love living in Mansfield, just a sort drive from Fort Worth, but Fort Worth proper is where I would hang with my friends. I would take them to my favorite coffee shop, Brewed. We would see a show at 4-Day Weekend (too funny!) and maybe catch a performance at Bass Hall (I am a music theater junkie). For food, we would hop over to Magnolia where we could hit Lucille’s and Cat City Grill, along with Melt Ice Cream and Heim’s BBQ. If we were looking to do some shopping, we would head to Clearfork, walk, shop, catch a movie, and end our visit with some wine at Cru. I love being a short drive to the area with all of the things to do and see!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would give a shout-out to my girlfriends. There is a group of this that bonded early on and have had each other’s backs for the last several years. They are the people that I never have to fake it with. I can be honest, struggling self and they accept me, build me up, make me laugh. Without these 3, I don’t know where I would be! Love you Stephanie, Deanna, and Tracy. I also want to give a shout out to my first coach. Coaching is what has helped me level-up at every new plateau I hit in business, but my first coach. He really dug in there with me and helped me shift my mindset. He is the reason I became a coach. Thanks Donnie for showing me how to get out of my own way.
