We had the good fortune of connecting with Hakima Hafizi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hakima, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I firmly believe in the power of kindness and its ability to transform lives. Everyone has their fair share of battles and struggles that we have no clue about, and I would like my legacy to be as someone who offered support, understanding, and a helping hand to those in need. I want people to remember me as a person who brought a smile to someone’s face and made their day a little brighter. That’s something that I would like to teach my children, to have empathy for others, to help others, and be kind.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’ve always had a passion for fashion and so when I first moved to DFW with my husband in 2019, I noticed something was missing here. There were certainly many social events and parties… but everywhere you go, it is the same dresses, same styles. What sets Haya Fashions apart is the unique styles and designs that you won’t find elsewhere in Texas, in particular, more modest options for prom dresses, mother-of-the-bridegroom dresses, evening gowns, and some formal wear. I had gathered some business contacts when we traveled to Europe for my honeymoon and it was something I always had in the back of my mind, ever since I was a little girl. It certainly came with many challenges, the most unexpected one being when I discovered I was expecting my second baby just a few weeks after purchasing the merchandise for the business! I thoroughly loved my previous job as a senior revenue analyst, but after having my children, I knew I did not want to spend a minute without them! That was my opportunity to take a leap of faith and venture out with this baby and give it my all! Haya Fashions provides top-quality dresses in unique designs and caters to the growing population who are looking for more modest options, as well as trendy dresses in plus sizes. Elegance is for everyone; that’s my motto and I believe everyone deserves to find that perfect dress they are absolutely in love with, that complements their unique figure and beauty, and allows them to express themselves to the rest of the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Gosh… I’m quite new to DFW myself and haven’t explored as much as I would have liked to. But let’s start… I love the Dallas Arboretum and Gardens and a visit there is a must for my guest. I would love to sip pink tea at Chai Wallah in Plano… dinner at Istanbul Café up in Frisco… a visit to the Dallas Museum of Art is a must. On a hot day, a swim at Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie would be great! I would take my guest for a walk downtown in Grapevine to show a little different side of the area with some interesting history. I would treat my friend to a few shakes at Agha Juice in Carrollton, go for shopping at the Galleria in Dallas, see the waterfalls at Fort Worth, and see the stockyards together. And being a mango lover, I would definitely take her to Mango Mango in Plano for dessert.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My amazing husband, Idris. I truly could not do this without him. Whether it’s watching over the kids, installing the slate walls, or setting up our equipment at marketing events, he’s my Mr. Everything. His support means the world and is instrumental in starting this business venture and one of the reasons it continues to grow. He’s always encouraging me to expand and grow the business.
