We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Blackshear and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have dabbled in a lot of different fields but art has always been a constant between them all. I consistently found myself adding creative aspects to the least artistic jobs, like taking over the “specials chalk board” you’ve seen at many restaurants, or drawing funny pictures on the pizza boxes I sent out when I worked at a pizza shop as a teen, all the way to digital marketing i’ve always pushed the creative boundaries in every job i’ve had. Over time it became abundantly clear that art was my true calling. I just recently added art classes for all ages as a service my business will now be offering as well, every day I take another step closer to fulfilling my dreams to open my own studio. Im a far ways off but i would rather fight everyday for this business that I believe in than ever be miserable in a Job not suited for my skill set again.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is unique just as all art is. I throughly enjoy ever aspect of my job but I thrive most in teaching others about all the ins and outs of the different techniques I have learned over the years. Everything I do is to help show single moms that its possible to survive on your own, its not in anyway easy there is A LOT of hard work and sleepless nights to get yourself up of the ground, as well as a lot of swallowing your pride and accepting help where its offered, I wouldn’t be where I am now without the friends and family I had to help me along the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would want them to come during the art festival week, on magnolia they have the cutest art festival set up around down to earth shops and restaurants all up and down Magnolia, along with live music and vendors. Night life wise I would suggest Cidercade, which is a Bar/Arcade offering TONs of classic and modern arcade games, its really a blast. The Water gardens, and botanical gardens would also be on the list of to do’s as they are both beautiful places to have a picnic or painting session. I would want to take them to sundance square and enjoy the live music while watching the kiddos play in the water. There are endless options for fun duringg a stay in Ft. Worth.
