We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimbalie Onu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimbalie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business stemmed from a deep desire for independence, creative freedom, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. I
wanted to build something of my own, where I could fully express my creativity, pursue
my vision, and create a positive change.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I pursued an artistic and creative career. It allows me to honor her by expressing my unique perspective on the world. As a boutique owner, one thing about my industry that outsiders are probably unaware of is the level of personalization and attention to detail that goes into curating a unique shopping experience. I personally hand-select items ensuring a curated collection that resonates with my clientele. I create looks that make my customers feel confident and fabulous. It’s these little touches and personalized service that truly set me apart from larger retail chains and create a memorable shopping experience while staying true to my brand.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Do you have a favorite quote or affirmation? Be unapologetically powerful and brave. Let no one convince you there are limits or
boundaries to what you can achieve. Every moment is an opportunity to unleash your
potential. Don’t be distracted by fear or negativity. If you don’t seize this moment
someone else will. – Sarah Jakes Roberts

What’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make was believing that my dreams could be a
reality. I took a leap of faith, but ultimately it turned out to be the best decision I’ve ever
made.

Work life balance: how has your balance changed over time? How do you think about the
balance?
Work-life balance has been a constant evolving journey for me. In the early stages of
building my business, I dedicated most of my time and energy to its growth. However, as I
gained experience and established a solid foundation, I realized the importance of taking
care of my well-being and nurturing relationships outside of work. Now, I prioritize setting
boundaries and carving out time for family, hobbies, and self-care. It’s a delicate balance
that requires constant evaluation and adjustments.
