We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelley Barnes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelley, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own freelancing business was to provide a voice for small businesses that didn’t have large marketing budgets to generate awareness for their goods and/or services. I’m happy to assist with bringing their dreams to fruition with my knowledge and expertise.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Copywriting is an art, and I’m passionate about my work. I offer copywriting and content/creative strategy services. What makes CopyCreate unique is my ability to provide services for any brand regardless of the industry.

I’m most proud of getting started. I believe so many people are afraid to start. I’m glad I gave it a shot, and although I’m not where I want to be, I know I’m on my way.

One thing I’ve learned is to go at my own pace. I don’t allow people to rush me. I don’t compare myself to others in my industry. I do what works for me. I don’t succumb to the pressure of being the next big thing.

Lastly, I want the world to know that, above all, CopyCreate is a passion project. I’m serious about my clients, who trust me to do the work and help them compete in an ever-changing digital world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If it’s one thing about Dallas—it’s a great place to eat and shop! Here goes:

Friday night – Expand your palate with dinner and drinks at my favorite Asian smokehouse, Loro.

Saturday – Brunch at Sadelle’s in Highland Park, then head to NorthPark Center for shopping and people-watchin’.

Saturday night – Get a taste of Italy with dinner at Eataly in NorthPark Center.

Sunday – Enjoy brunch at Saint Ann Restaurant & Bar, then mosey over to Dallas Museum of Art, and finish the evening with dinner and views at Sky Blossom.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God deserves all the credit for any success I’ve enjoyed thus far. Shout-out to him for ordering my steps and blessing me with the tools to run my business.
