We had the good fortune of connecting with Ena Estrella and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ena, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
Lost Sacrament was inspired by many progressive and power metal bands such as Evergrey, Dream Theater, Nightwish, Epica and Sonata Arctica (as well as many others). Each of these influences motivated us to make our own a distinct sound that is very rarely found or encouraged in our area of Texas (or the United States). Lyrically, we were inspired by current events (at the time, we were entering the pandemic, and the political climate of our country was very high) as well as personal anecdotes (observations of global warming, childhood traumas, etc.).

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
LS has been a musical journey driven by our band leader and drummer VC Fernandez. One summer many years ago, VC spent a summer in isolation recording 7 demos of what would be our first album “Praesidio in Animo”. When it came time to evolve the project into a band, I (Ena) was brought on board as singer/lyricist, and slowly we found other musicians to join the fold. Pete (Oliva) was working with VC at the time, and came aboard at first to jam. Felipe (Hernandez) was brought in by other friends who jammed with us, and stayed when it came time to put the music down to record. With the group being almost complete, we recorded our first album with Josh (Lopez) at Widowmaker Studios here in McAllen, TX (bassist for Immortal Guardian). When we premiered the album in its entirety in Harlingen, TX at The Hop Shop, Jacinto (Ortiz) came to see us, and was so inspired by the music, he learned the album in a week. With his joining of the fold, Lost Sacrament became complete. We are a band with a unique Symphonic Metal sound that is not very popular in our area, but that has not stopped us from finding success in the Rio Grande Valley. We are very proud of our work on the first album, and are hoping to do the next one in full grandeur very soon!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are not very familiar with the DFW area, but we love to check out local music spots in any town we visit, as well as music stores and good restaurants (we try to check out local as music as possible). The few times we have been to DFW, we try to visit the Abbott Bros. gravesite (we loved Pantera).

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to dedicate our shoutout to all of our fans here in the Rio Grande Valley, in Texas and across the world who have supported us through social media and have supported our music and live shows.
