We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Carlson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melissa, how does your business help the community?
I started 3B clothing to offer affordable boy styled clothing to everyone. So many times I was met with frustration while shopping for my 3 boys. There would be rows and rows of the cutest girl clothes, and then just one simple rack for boys! I wanted to change that and provide a place where people can shop for boy clothing that offers different styles and sizing options!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One thing I have learned is to tune out the background noise. There will be so many people that will question your “why” and try to put doubt in your head. Don’t listen to them, and keep your goals and purpose true to yourself.
I’m still in the pretty early stages of my business, but have been overall successful. Ofcourse, that doesn’t mean I have not hit some road bumps and issues, but with anything worth while, I keep pushing through and pursuing my goals I set for myself.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
You know, I have sat here and tried to figure out the answer to this. Truth be told, I have absolutely no idea. I have completely poured myself into being a mom the last 11.5 years, and I truly do not get out much.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My sister Tiffany Stogner really pushed me to jump head first into selling childrens clothes! We also opened our own mercantile store in Weatherford called The Peach Orchard! My husband, Ben Carlson has always been supportive to chase my dreams as long as it makes me happy.
My parents Shonda and Glen Harkey have been some of my biggest cheerleaders.
