We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriela Cruz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabriela, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe taking risk plays a huge role in your career, especially when you are starting your own business. Just looking back at when I first started, I completely quit my job of 4 years to pursue my dream of opening my own business. It was difficult the first few months on my own, starting from scratch and having to build up my clientele. I knew deep down this was the best thing I could’ve done for myself. with a great amount of hard work and dedication. I have had sleepless nights wondering if I would have enough to pay my bills but I would always remind myself every night before I fell asleep that everything will be ok and that I got this. Then the busier I got the more that stress fell away. I’ve learned that risks are worth taking because it makes you grow as a person. It allows you to learn and grow into the person you are today.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It all started when I got laid off from my job during the 2020 pandemic, Once everything was opening back up and I went back to work it just never felt the same. My passion for my work was slowly fading and I knew I had to do something about it. Once my husband and I purchased our first home, I finally decided to leave my job and open up my very own suite alongside my best friend. I had to start from scratch with very few clients which was not so great for my anxiety. One thing that helped me a lot is manifestation. Trust me when I say that it does really work! You just have to toss those negative thoughts out the door and remind yourself everyday, “I believe in myself whole heartedly, this vision is in my heart for a reason; I’m meant to bring it to life.” If I could go back in time I would’ve told myself a long time ago to take that rush because it was all worth it at the end!
The way I dedicate myself to my business is what pushes me to provide the best experience for my clients. I specialize in female full body waxing by providing the best service and empowering women in feeling confident in their body. I dedicate my time in making sure you feel comfortable & achieve a smooth waxing experience.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ahh, I am so indecisive when it comes to picking things 😬 trust me when I say I am more of a go with the flow kind of gal haha
I love food but my top 3 choices I would recommend are:
– Dal Dong Nae, best Korean bbq in dfw! I love to order myself Galbi (Korean Ribs) with some spicy seafood tofu soup & some purple rice.
– Chopped Cocina, if you are craving some bomb aguachiles & micheladas. Definitely order yourself the mango aguachiles with the green salsa Tostitos!
-Wabi House in Fort Worth, bomb ramen taste better than the Dallas location. I love the spice miso & tons of appetizers (you can’t go wrong with any of them because they are all so good!)
Places to go:
– Korean Town ( located in Carrollton ) they have bomb food, desserts & karaoke bars 😉
– Farmers Market in Dallas, you have to go during the weekend, love to see what small businesses are selling and eat some good food.
– La Gran Plaza in Fort Worth, has the best Mexican food & desserts. They have everything plus it reminds me of Mexico 😊
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The first person would have to be my husband. Since day one he has always supported my dreams and motivated me when I felt like I was way over my head. I remember when I was contemplating on going back to school because I did not know if I was financially able to. He would make sure I made that happen by always being my number one supporter throughout my journey. I also would have not of done this without the support of my family. They taught me the value of putting in hard work in accomplishing our dreams no matter what it is. Huge shout out to my business partner Kelley, @q.utenails, for joining me in this journey of being new business owners. I have learned so much from you every step of the way. I cannot wait to see what the further holds for us!
