Meet Jameka Johnson | Lead Realtor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jameka Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jameka, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting Griffin Locations was to positively impact families with the resources my husband Douglas and I created. We established the real estate business in 2016 with a vision to give back in a way that can be multiplied through time. The education we provide to our clients have been carefully structured for their success towards home ownership and/or real estate investments. With understanding that the market changes, we continuously pour efforts to evolve our service, education, and experience. The thought process for Griffin Locations services will always be to provide our client the Great Lifestyle. For the location of your home and investment equals the lifestyle impact return for your family.
Please tell us more about your business. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
First, we allowed God to direct our footsteps. Now, does that mean we always went the right way, no. The challenges gave lessons that are applied to our growth today. Douglas and I are great partners, we overcame challenges by being great leaders for each other and cultivating an amazing team that contributed to the business growth. With bringing family and business together it can be a challenge with work/life balance, however it gives good fuel as well. I appreciate how the term in the question “business-wise”, as that is gained overtime. We are proud of being in business for about 7 years now. Every year of growth had great success and also struggle. It has not been easy but has been rewarding with strength and endurance. The biggest lessons we have learned is to keep going and to grow at your pace. The goal is to be greater than the day we were before.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc. In your view what are some of the most fun, interesting, exciting people, places or things to check out?
A week long trip with our best friends! Wow. Laughter, art, relaxation, and healing! We believe in giving our friends what we would want, more time! Stimulating the mind and relaxing is a part of it. We both are huge fans of thai massages, so treating our friends to a thai massage/spa will be at the top of the list! Lots of hydration, that includes freshly squeezed juices and good food! Good food can be from a great superfood salad to delicious seafood. One of Douglas and I favorites, truffle fries… have to be involved! Dallas has a rich history of architecture, world class art, and museums. So showing the culture of the city and what it evolved from will be a great experience to provide to our friends. Along with hanging out at coffee shops, lounges that provide a laid back experience and special handcrafted cocktails, and wineries. The social hour(s) will be filled with laughter and great conversation! The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is a great place to check out! It has so much beauty that is a must to see!
Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
The credit goes to my mother. She purchased her first home when I was 15 years old. Being the oldest of my siblings, I have witnessed the impact to our family by owning real estate. The home is zoned to a great school district. The location exposed my siblings and I to diversity. We were able to evolve our communication with others just by interacting with our neighbors who were also home owners, and our peers at school. I was 15 and highly aware about the meaning of growth. There were an abundance of grocery stores and restaurants, with quality in mind. Over the years, there have been hospitals, colleges, entertainment, town centers, and more built minutes from the first home my mother purchased. The development also keeps the aesthetic of tree equity that also impacts the value of the home. With my mother having the courage to conquer the process of home ownership, I am here today with the mission to help more families achieve their Great Lifestyle.
