Meet Ally McCrory | Yoga studio owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ally McCrory and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ally, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
*I was a stay at home mom and begin doing yoga to keep myself busy and in shape. It was something that allowed me to have some time to myself and do something that felt good in my body.
At the time, Weatherford did not have a hot power yoga studio, but there was an instructor running her personal classes in a dance studio.
Only about a year after beginning yoga I experienced a divorce and relied heavily on my yoga practice and yoga community. I needed to seek employment and I needed something that I could work around taking my daughter to and from school (she goes to a private school that doesn’t have transportation).
I dove into teacher training and pushed myself to gather several certifications in a short about of time.
After my training, I decided to open up a studio in a small space and our community grew!
We are now in two cities (Weatherford and Mineral Wells), have a teacher training program that begins this January and have a full schedule with multiple instructors.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Pav Yoga is a hot power yoga studio, where our main practice is vinyasa style yoga, but we have a few other styles to offer our students. We have the room heated and humidity added to encourage the body to get warmer faster and allow the students body to go further in the poses safely.
We have several different styles of classes and a wide variety of instructors to cater to our students, their needs, their personalities and have added a few non-heated options as well!
We are different than other yoga studios because instead of saying ‘Namaste’ after the class is over we say ‘Agape’. We want our students to know that they are seen, loved an accepted the way they are.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m all about supporting local! So we would hang out in Weatherford and Mineral Wells. The square in Weatherford is where the majority of the shops and eateries are.
Some of the sweet local eateries and coffee shops in Weatherford are: Zeno’s, Fire Oak, Iron Works, Yesterdays and Downtown Cantina.
Weatherford also has Chandor Gardens that they could stroll through and see the foliage and waterfalls.
Mineral Wells is full of history and it has some
Awesome old buildings to check out.
They could stay the night in the Crazy Water Hotel, hang out on the rooftop and see the incredible view of town and shop in the hotels pavilion. They have the Crazy Water Company where you can taste the different levels of Crazy Water (alkaline water) and also a bathhouse and spa.
Currently they are working on renovating the Baker Hotel and that is within walking distance of the Crazy Water Hotel.
Mineral Wells also has Clark Gardens which has several different trails and places to sit and enjoy nature.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The instructor that introduced me to hot power yoga is Kila Rennaker. She was the instructor that held her personal classes at the dance studio I attended. She is the one that pushed me take the training and to grow in my yoga practice. She is also the one that created the community that helped to comfort me during the hard times in that season and continuously encouraged growth and renewal.
She showed me how to love myself even when it was hard to see any love there.
